Edward Daniel Calle Torres es Medico Veterinario y Zootecnista, Podologo Equino, con mas de 25 años de experiencia en el area de las claudicaciones de los caballos. Esta pagina esta dedicada al conocimiento de las patologias del pie y a su resolucion satisfactoria; dandole un enfasis a la parte mecanica, de proteccion y manejo, mas que a la medica y al uso de tratamientos parenterales. La idea es

dar a conocer que los problemas del casco y el pie se deben tratar con cuidado, solucionando los problemas mecanicos y fisiologicos, mucho mas allá de la utilizacion de solo tratamientos con medicamentos. Ademas, dar a conocer la importancia del herrado fisiologico en el bienestar atletico del caballo, de conocer la biomecanica de los movimientos del caballo y como aprovecharla al maximo para su desempeño atletico.

Now it's time to get into the Achievement Award winners!!

🏆🏆 First, for writing involving the shoeing of a horse or treatment of ailments of the equine hoof, the Technical Writing Award went to Brian Strelow, CJF, TE, FE, EE!

Brian also picked up the award for meritorious service in collecting, editing, and presenting information of interest to farriers, the Journalism Award! Way to go, Brian!! 👏

🌟 Up next on our Examiner Spotlight is Brian Strelow, BS, CJF, TE, FE, EE!

⚒️ Brian Strelow is a native Washingtonian who lives on Whidbey Island with his wife Nicole and their two kids. Brian’s passion for farriery began in the mid 90’s while working summers at a dude ranch in Wyoming. After graduating from Oregon State University he enrolled at Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School and completed an informal apprenticeship with a race track farrier. Brian is an active member of the AFA and the local chapter FAWS. In 2001 he became an AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier and has been a fixture of the AFA Certification program for many years as a Tester and now as an Instructor and Examiner. Brian credits local contests for preparing him for Certification. Still an avid competitor, you can find Brian at a half dozen local and national contests each year. Brian has shod a variety of disciplines over nearly 30 years under horses. Currently dressage, jumping and barrel racing horses take up the majority of his time. When he’s not making horseshoes or tools you can find him in the mountains or near the ocean.

🔥 Prior to signing up for an AFA Certification, you need to know what the test entails, inside and out. Go to an AFA Pre-Certification clinic, scribe at a Certification, and find a mentor who has achieved the goals that you are now pursuing. Combining those 3 things along with focused practice in the forge, under the horse, and in the book are required to be successful. It will take your full commitment, the horses under our care require it!!!
