One Mother Was Saved. Another Wasn't.
Over the past few weeks, millions of people around the world have been heartbroken by the story of WangWang and her four puppies.
As we mourn their unimaginable suffering, we cannot help but think of another mother dog...
Her name is Goldie.
Unlike WangWang, Goldie's story has a happy ending—but only because one compassionate person happened to cross her path.
On November 13, 2025, our rescuer, Fita, was on her way to work in Wuhan, China, when she noticed a heavily pregnant stray dog wandering the streets alone. She could have kept walking. Instead, she brought Goldie home.
Just three days later, Goldie gave birth to five beautiful puppies—three girls and two boys—in the safety of Fita's home, surrounded by warmth, food, and love instead of fear.
Over the following months, something remarkable happened.
In March 2026, the three little girls found loving families in Toronto. The following month, Goldie and her two boys travelled to Vancouver, where, with the help of Loved At Last Dog Rescue, they too found wonderful forever homes.
Today, this family is safe.
Loved.
Cherished.
Their story reminds us that rescue doesn't just save one life. It transforms generations.
As heartbreaking as WangWang's story is, it also reminds us of an important truth.
Every day, there are countless stray mothers like Goldie searching for food, safety, and a chance to protect their babies.
Some are fortunate enough to be found by someone like Fita.
Many are not.
That is why Fita continues rescuing animals despite overwhelming challenges. She currently cares for more than 600 dogs and 50 cats in Wuhan.
She receives very little financial support and has accumulated significant personal debt simply because she refuses to turn away from animals in desperate need.
We've asked her many times to slow down. Her answer is always the same:
"If I walk away from an animal in need, It will haunt me in my sleep."
That is the heart behind this rescue.
Goldie's family is living proof of what compassion can accomplish. The next mother and her puppies are still waiting.
If Goldie's story touched your heart, please consider helping Fita continue rescuing families like hers.
Every donation helps provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and hope for animals who have no one else to turn to.

About WangWang
On June 28, 2026, in Jieyang, Guangdong Province, a stray mother dog known as WangWang and her four puppies were brutally killed by four teenage boys in broad daylight.
The attack was filmed and shared on Chinese social media, shocking millions of people both within China and around the world. The case has become a powerful reminder of the vulnerability of homeless animals, particularly in places where no animal protection laws exist.
WangWang's story has inspired countless people to speak out for animals who have no voice.
We honour her memory by continuing to fight for a world where every mother dog - and every puppy-has the chance to know kindness instead of cruelty.
