First of all, here at TASH we must apologise for the lack of updates to this page. We are all volunteers with full-time jobs and families to look after. Unfortunately, one of our admins has been extremely poorly for the best part of the year and two others have unfortunately had to quit through personal reasons, therefore the burden of posting has fallen on the shoulders of the remaining admin. Madam Yang has also had her problems due to the lack of help at the shelter and forgetting to send updates to us due to her concentrating 100% on the animals in her care. After a full day of back-breaking work, all Madam Yang wants to do is eat and sleep.
However, even though we haven't posted for a while, we finally have an update and what better way to start the weekend than a good feel post!

During the week a kind-hearted policeman captured a mum and her 8 pups who were living rough on the streets and approached Madam Yang for help. Of course, Madam Yang did not hesitate to take in the family. What many people will not know about Madam Yang is that her animal activism work is highly respected amongst some members of the local police academy. Madam Yang is a trailblazer when it comes to changing people's attitudes towards animals on the streets and engaging with the police has been one of the many ways she's managed to bring about real change for our furry friends.

Winter is approaching fast and Tianjin can have some of the worst weather imaginable with temperatures regularly dropping to below zero. We really must prepare the shelter for the harsh conditions on the horizon. For now, the new mum and her pups are well fed (some dog food traders donate meat and dogfood to Madam Yang), but even so food is low in stock. Also, a lot of the dogs in the shelter including the mum and pups desperately need beds and warm blankets. On top of all of this we need to start stock-piling fuel for the winter ahead. Hello friends of TASH – another update from Madam Yang. Here she lovingly tells us how she cares for her cats that are often ‘dropped off’ by locals who no longer wants them. Within the shelter she has built a sky bridge and a sun lounge for her 100+ scats to run along and get some much needed vitamin D safely, as some of these bridges will overlook the dogs’ areas, so it’s essential that they are properly built. She shows us the food and snacks that she has bought online and access to fresh water daily is a priority for her.

Look at the condition of these cats and their living quarters – these animals are very well looked after by a 74-year old lady with constant pains in her legs, but she does all of this out of love. Please donate what you can to help this little old lady buy food and maintain her shelter so that these cats can remain to live out the rest of their lives at TASH.

Say hello to Madam Yang everybody! She's extremely sorry for not posting much updates recently but will try harder in future. We do need to give her some slack because she is 74 and has pain in both legs, but she continues to clean her shelter and feed her 700+ cats and dogs everyday. Please share and donate to her cause! This lucky Maltese was saved from the butchers by these two kind hearted boys, who brought her along to Madam Yang’s shelter with a donation of £4, we will need more funds to ensure she is well fed and checked by the vet. If we had more kind hearted people in the world – what a wonderful world this would be.

In the month of June, with the help of our donors on Paypal and Teaming, we were able to donate £685 to Madam Yang. Thank you so much for your continued support. The money was spent on the rent for 2024/25 and paying back the dog food vendors that have generously loaned her dog food, however there is still a small fraction of rent to be paid and more food debts to clear. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram - Tianjin Animal Safe Haven, and kindly tell your friends and family about Teaming so that they too can support Madam Yang’s cause. The photos shows Madam Yang in receipt of 6314 RMB on the 7th June 2024 and on the same day she sent 5000 RMB (£540) to the landlord.

Hello friends of and TASH Madam Yang. Hope you are well and please forgive us for our lack of updates. Madam Yang is well and still committed to her cause of taking care of her dogs and cats in the rural area of Tianjin. Listen to how she tenderly talks about the importance of nutrition for these four puppies that were recently dumped on her along with their mother. She chuckles because they are so adorably cute, but to feed and tend for five more dogs is not an easy battle for an elderly woman with no financial back-up. She relies on the kindness of local traders to give her dog food on a ‘pay when you can’, a form of support and goodwill to her.

This recent clip from Madam Yang shows you the effort she makes in making sure the shelter is cleaned – look how lovely and clean the new flooring is!
She lovingly calls out one of her favourite dogs - 'pu di hwa' while she’s eating and she introduces us to an elderly pekingese dog with one eye, who has resided at the shelter for a number of years.

Madam Yang has brought us another update of her beautiful dogs chomping down on plates of hot sausage and chicken rice stew. She sounds tired after hours of cooking, but her words are loving in that she explains to us the different personalities in her brood. The dogs look well and live in harmony with one another.

Hello dear friends of TASH and Madam Yang! Here’s the latest update from Madam Yang. This video shows one of the many rooms that house some of the dogs and cats at Madam Yang’s shelter. The animals look rested and content with their clean bedding, clean floor, and clean water supply. In colder months the wood burner is used, however at present Wuqing is experiencing temperatures between 20 - 33 degrees Celsius so they are not needed. Madam Yang is keen to maintain high hygiene standards at the shelter to ensure her animals live a long and happy life.

13 days to Christmas!

Hello wonderful TASHers! During the summer months we mentioned Tianjin suffered intense monsoon rains and this caused long-term damages to the flooring at the shelter. The first 30 seconds of the latest clip shows the previous condition of the shelter flooring – old, dilapidated, and broken. However, in the last 10 seconds of the video Madam Yang has taken initiative and installed new red brick tiling, look at how happy the dogs are!

Christmas is a time for giving and I’m sure you’re all running around collecting last minute gift orders for loved ones. We are now launching our Christmas fundraiser to help pay for the new flooring. Madam Yang has only done a small section of the shelter and the rest will need to be completed once we have raised enough funds.

Please help us raise £3500 for the fit and supply of the new shelter flooring!

Your contribution, however big or small will make a positive impact on the lives of the cats and dogs at Tianjin Animal Safe Haven!
