Pets.gr started as a small group in 2001, when the basic idea was to create something that would provide knowledge about pets.
The animal welfare association
Through our website, a very active group for stray animals was created, the Association for the Care & Protection of Stray Animals - Stray.gr, in which Marina Lymberopoulou was its president from 2002 (when it was still an informal group) until 2008, so he resigned after the end of the 5 years as stipulated by his statute.
The rescue team
In 2007, Marina created the Pitbull Rescue Group of Greece, the only group dealing with rescues of Pitbull breeds. Hundreds of dogs have been rescued from dog fighting, abandonment and abuse, while being rehabilitated and reintegrated into society as pets. Pitbull-Rescue.gr operates to this day, as an informal group, in which anyone can find a stray dog belonging to these breeds, promote it and/or get information on the best way to live with it.
The page
In 2008, we created our page, through which we promote animals looking for families, lost animals as well as advice for pets and stray animals as well as incredible stories with animals from Greece and abroad. Ioanna Lymberopoulou has full supervision of the page, which has exceeded 18,000 likes.
The show
In 2008, our participation in the SKAI show Para tricha, completed a large part of our goal regarding the presence of animals on television. It was the first show on Greek Television, which gave information to all those who had pets and did not know how to take care of them properly, it helped to find families for many animals of animal welfare associations, while at the same time in many of the episodes the incidents were real and the rescues were done on camera. The participation of Marina Lymperopoulou in Para Tricha was in the organization of the show, in its presentation and in the research of the topics and their structure. The editor-in-chief of the show was Clea Morianou.
The shop
In 2011, Pets.gr became a small shop. Our store is located in Neo Psychiko, Grigoriou Xenopoulos 3 in Agia Sophia square, since April 2011. From the beginning of our operation until today, we try to find every product that we think you might find useful, we test 95% of products before we put them on the shelf and our opinion is always a result obtained from 20-30 cats and 4-6 dogs. Our goal is that all our products can make you and your four-legged friends happy, while at the same time we never compromise our quality for any reason.
Pet Therapy
In 2015, Pets.gr started a new activity, that of Pet Therapy. A scientific collaboration, with the Aeginite Hospital and the elderly care unit "European Boarding House", gives joy to people who need contact with pets. At the same time, the scientific team of Aeginetio is doing research in our program, so that the presence of animals can be included in all care units for the elderly, something that has not yet happened in Greece.
