⚠️ Emergency Reminder | Foreign Body Ingestion Cases Are Increasing Recently!

This little dog recently swallowed a corn cob ⚠️
Many pet owners think corn cobs are “soft” and harmless — but they are actually extremely dangerous for dogs.

Corn cobs absorb water, contain tough fibers, and cannot be digested properly.
They can easily cause:
❗ Intestinal blockage
❗ Vomiting
❗ Loss of appetite
❗ Even intestinal perforation in severe cases

Every time we perform a foreign body surgery, it’s heartbreaking.
The dog suffers physically, and owners often go through emotional stress and unexpected medical expenses 😔

🧩 Common dangerous household items for dogs include:
• Corn cobs
• Plastic bags
• Rubber bands
• Needles & thread
• Foam materials
• Small toys
• Bone fragments

⚠️ Important reminder:
If you have dogs at home, please use trash bins with secure lids.
Searching through garbage bins is one of the most common causes of accidental foreign body ingestion.

Wishing every furry family member a safe, healthy, and trouble-free life ✨

As the weather gets hotter 🌞, ticks are becoming much more active in grassy outdoor areas!

When taking your furry friends outside to play, they can easily become targets for ticks without you noticing 🕷️
Ticks attach firmly to the skin to feed on blood and may transmit serious diseases, so they should never be taken lightly ⚠️

❗ If you find a tick on your pet, do not pull it out by force.
Improper removal may leave mouthparts behind or increase infection risk. It’s safest to seek professional veterinary help.

To help protect your pets this summer:
✅ Avoid dense grass and bushes when possible
✅ Keep up with regular flea & tick prevention
✅ After outdoor activities, carefully check areas like:
• Behind the ears
• Armpits
• Between the toes

Wishing every furry family member a safe, healthy, and comfortable summer 🐱🐶✨

12-year-old Shiba Inu with chronic liver enzyme elevation 🐶
For nearly 10 months, liver enzymes remained consistently high.
Ultrasound revealed uneven liver parenchyma changes, raising concerns for possible liver disease.

Despite maintaining a normal appetite and sleep pattern, the dog experienced frequent soft stools and occasional vomiting 😮‍💨

After a comprehensive Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) assessment — including pulse evaluation, tongue observation, and acupuncture point palpation — the condition was identified as:
• Liver Qi stagnation
• Qi and blood stasis

A conservative integrative treatment plan was started, focusing on:
✨ Soothing the liver
✨ Promoting circulation
✨ Supporting gastrointestinal balance

Treatment included:
🌿 Herbal medicine
🪡 Acupuncture
🤲 Home massage care
combined with modern veterinary monitoring and follow-up.

After 2 and 4 weeks of continued treatment and rechecks, liver enzyme levels successfully returned to the normal range ✅
Digestive symptoms also improved significantly, with much less vomiting and soft stool episodes.

The patient is currently continuing long-term supportive care and monitoring 💛

🐾 Following our previous post on anaesthesia, let’s take a closer look at what happens during your pet’s procedure.

Once your pet is safely sedated, we place an intravenous catheter and start fluid therapy to support blood pressure and circulation throughout anaesthesia.

During the procedure, your pet receives:
✔️ Sedation and pain relief
✔️ Endotracheal intubation to protect the airway
✔️ Inhalation anaesthesia for precise control and a smoother recovery

Throughout surgery, every patient is continuously monitored using advanced equipment, including:
• ECG (heart rhythm)
• Blood pressure
• Oxygen saturation (SpO₂)
• Body temperature
• End-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO₂)

EtCO₂ monitoring is one of the most important indicators during anaesthesia. It provides real-time information about breathing, airway function, and ventilation, allowing us to detect changes early and respond promptly.

At Ada’s Veterinary Hospital, every anaesthetised patient is assigned a dedicated team member for one-to-one monitoring and detailed record keeping.

Because anaesthesia safety depends on both technology and the trained professionals interpreting every number.

Our goal is simple: to minimise risk and help every pet wake up safely and comfortably. ❤️

🐾 Many pet parents feel nervous when they hear the words “surgery” and “anaesthesia.” And that’s completely understandable.

At Ada’s Veterinary Hospital, we believe that safe anaesthesia starts long before the procedure itself.

✔️ Pre-anaesthetic blood tests and physical examination
✔️ Individual risk assessment
✔️ Tailored anaesthetic protocols
✔️ One-to-one monitoring throughout the procedure
✔️ Multimodal pain management

One thing that often surprises clients is the anaesthetic consent form.

This isn’t just paperwork — it’s an important conversation about your pet’s health, potential risks, and how we work to minimise them. Transparency is part of responsible veterinary care.

We classify anaesthesia into five levels based on:
• The type and complexity of the procedure
• Your pet’s age and health status
• Any underlying medical conditions

This allows us to choose the most appropriate and safest plan for each individual patient.

Because anaesthesia should never be “one size fits all.”

Every blood test, every monitor, and every careful decision reflects our commitment to treating your pet like family. ❤️

🐾 Found a newborn kitten? Don’t panic — here’s what to do

If you’ve just found a tiny newborn kitten, take a deep breath. You’ve got this 🤍

Start by preparing a small, soft-lined box with a blanket — give them a warm, quiet place to rest 🌿

Take a moment to observe:
How alert are they? Are they breathing normally?
Check for any injuries, parasites, and whether the umbilical cord is still attached.

🔥 Warmth comes first
Newborn kittens can’t regulate their body temperature.
Use a heating pad wrapped in a towel to keep them safely warm.

💧 Hydration before feeding
If the kitten seems dehydrated, offer a warm electrolyte solution first.
Then feed kitten milk replacer (never cow’s milk), in small, frequent amounts — always in a belly-down position to prevent aspiration.

🧻 Don’t forget to gently stimulate them with a warm tissue after feeding to help them urinate and defecate.

⚖️ Weigh them daily to monitor growth, and if anything feels off, seek veterinary care as soon as possible 🏥

Every small step you take can make a big difference in their little life 🐱✨

🐾 Spay & Neuter Guide | What Every Pet Owner Should Know

Thinking about spaying or neutering your pet?
Don’t rush — here are 4 key things you should know ✨

🩺 Pre-surgery checks matter
They help assess anaesthetic risk and establish a health baseline 📊

For young pets:
✔ Blood test (CBC + liver & kidney function)
✔ For cats: an echocardiogram is highly recommended to screen for hidden heart disease 💓

For senior pets:
A more comprehensive health check is essential — early detection brings peace of mind.

⚡ Surgical technique matters too
Advanced tools (like vessel-sealing devices) can reduce bleeding and support smoother recovery.
Commonly recommended for female pets, while male procedures can be more flexible ✅

💊 Post-op care is just as important
✔ Pain relief is essential
✔ Antibiotics are usually NOT needed in sterile surgeries

🐶🐱 Spaying and neutering should be safe, gentle, and well-planned —
because less stress means a better experience for every pet 🤍 #上海生活 #上海駐在 #上海ペット #上海動物病院 #상하이 #상해 #동물병원 #강아지 #고양이 pet clinic animal hospital
