What a great time at Koi Fest 2026! 🐟✨

Great koi, great people, and so many good conversations.

One of the best parts for us was meeting everyone who stopped by the Mountain Tree booth — some familiar faces, and many new ones. We talked about koi, filtration, water quality, pond projects, and of course, shared plenty of fishkeeping stories along the way.

Events like Koi Fest are a great reminder of what makes this hobby special. It’s not only about beautiful koi, but also the people, knowledge, ideas, and passion that bring the whole community together. Koi Fest itself was built around exactly that mix of koi, community, vendors, shows and shared experiences.

A big thank you to 's Fish Ponds for inviting Mountain Tree to be part of Koi Fest 2026, and for putting together such a great event for the koi community.

And thank you to everyone who came by to see us.

Every beautiful koi has a very humble beginning. 🐟✨

Before the colors, the patterns, and the graceful swimming, a new koi journey starts with careful breeding work.

Eggs and milt are collected separately, then carefully mixed in a controlled process. After fertilization, the eggs attach to spawning brushes, where countless tiny lives begin to develop.

It may not look as glamorous as a finished koi swimming in a clear pond…

But this is where the story begins.

From one tiny egg to one beautiful koi, every step takes patience, experience, and careful hands.

Every koi is a small miracle of life. 🌿

Algae don’t just show up for fun… although sometimes it really looks like they do. 😅🌿
In a koi pond or aquarium, algae growth usually has a few favorite “ingredients”:
Sunlight ☀️
Warm water 🌡️
Nutrients like nitrates and phosphates
And slow water flow

Fish waste, uneaten food, and decaying leaves can all add nutrients into the water — basically giving algae more “food” to grow.
So when your pond suddenly turns greener than expected, don’t just blame the algae.
Look at what is feeding it.

Understand the cause.
Manage it earlier.
Keep your pond more balanced. 🐟💧
