Take a moment to look back into your own childhood.. what is one of your fondest memories? What is it that you remember first, the most, the deepest?

I always remember climbing trees and being in the forest, playing outside with all the other kids in the neighbourhood and having many simple, yet amazingly funny sleepovers in our basement. Oh the laughter, the endless laughter!

Generally, I seem to remember a lot of laughter. Isn't it sad that we're laughing less and less the more we grow up?

Are you good at making decisions? I'm asking because my client this weekend truly inspired me.

When I couldn't offer her the original date she wanted for her party, I suggested another weekend, full of hope. So "usually* there is a lot of back and forth, checking, emailing, suggesting, making options available. But no no no, not her! She said, ok, which date is good and I WILL make it work. Guaranteed. I am deciding NOW, on the call with you, it's reserved.

And when I told her about my surprised reaction, she mentioned that where she's coming from, people are used to handling life flexibly, taking what is available and making it work out. No matter what.

In awe I applauded her for her reaction and wisdom. And took her words as a guiding light also for my own life and decisions. I never get tired of saying it; I DO DO DO have the best and most inspiring and kind clients! Thank you 🙏🏽!

We get about 8 chances to play Santa, 12 first days of school, 12 Easter baskets, about 16 summer holidays, 20 tooth fairy visits, 1 first date, 1 graduation and 1 chance to support and encourage them to be good humans during all of it.

Remember, the days are long, but the years are truly short. Nothing is more important than making those shared memories precious.

Girls just want to have fun? Wait, wait, wait...but so do boys, oh yes! And when I get invited to set up a sleepover party for boys, I'm always slightly intrigued. I had the most lovely all boys sleepovers ever and the range of activities have been surprising as well as heart-warming.

One of my "favourite" boys' parties was when a group of little ones were eagerly watching me set up everything while standing there each with a little suitcase. I was quite interested in what was in them... Pyjamas? Toothbrushes? Stuffed animals? They assured me that nothing like that was included. Instead the suitcases were full of books! Their plan was to stay up all night and each read the most scary stories to the other ones and find out which story was the most spooky.. finding the king of scary was their plan! Bless them, no?

A jungle at home 🌿...I don't know about your family, but my younger daughter's room looks and feels like a jungle every single day. A thick and unpenetratable habitat full of unfinished creative projects, laundry (freshly washed and folded, grrrrrr), books, pens, colours, glue, lego, skiing equipment, plush toys, school stuff, library books and cds, stickers, socks, playmobil, shoes, dog toys, food wrappers, you name it, you'll find it in her jungle.

It's driving me crazy as I was never allowed to have a chaotic room when I grew up.. and at the same time, I'm so happy that she can live and feel most at home in her creative chaos. She really is not a fan of a pristine and clean room at all. Not because she hates cleaning it up, but because she loves to be surrounded by all of her things. Everything gives her ideas and serves as a creative spark. She's constantly having ideas, making presents for her loved ones, draws, paints, crafts. A real jungle at home.

2024, you bore so many challenges, tears, moments of pure loneliness and lost focus. So many things I wanted to give up and leave behind, but I didn't manage to get rid of some of my own inner enemies. However, I'm not going to make myself feel bad about it on top of that. Although it would be too easy to fall into doing exactly that.

At the same time so many amazing things also happened this year, countless moments of warmth, laughter and learning, growing, outgrowing and setting boundaries. An abundance of beautiful clients and families that I could serve with my creative work completed it all. Thank you, it continues to amaze me how full the world is of beautiful souls.

It's taken me no less than 47 years to fulfill this soul dream. Loving dogs, loving animals, loving all non-human creatures is one of my most prominent childhood memories. We could never own pets, but believe me, if there was an animal documentary on TV or animal book in the local library, it was consumed by me immediately.

This weekend, our little Italian greyhound found his way into our hearts. I am fully out of my comfort zone, but ready to feel all the feelings of not having a clue what I'm doing, sleepless nights and moments of pure joy. All is happening at once.

Hopefully your last before Xmas has started off well and you are able to enjoy a few moments of introspection, family love and gratitude in the coming season.

I find it so hard to keep up with showing you all of my work during these past weeks.. 2 birthday girls of my own, seasons preparations, school plays, dance recitals and choir concerts, present brainstorming ideas for family members and also getting more and more excited (and prepared and informed) about welcoming our little doggie into our family in less than 10 days.. My head is spinning! I hope that you are finding a way to stay sane(r) in this festive, but oh so very busy season! If yes, do you mind telling me your secret, please? 🙏🏽

Do you believe in signs "from the universe"? Coincidences that happen which you truly understand or interpret as a "wink" from above? Situations that occur that only seem to serve the purpose to tell you to follow through with a big dream you have?

This weekend, when I walked into the house of this beautiful family, I looked at their entrance wall and immediately noticed goose bumps spreading throughout my whole body. I had to quickly stop the conversation and tell my client: "wow, this is a BIG moment for me right here! This is so unexpected and SO very good!" And I explained it all to her and then we both realized what a big impact the magnificent photo on their wall had for me. What a memorable situation!

Sometimes I am surprised that from all I've packed into the back of my car and a few hours of creative labour, these magical atmospheres can emerge.. but it's not starting out looking pretty, let me tell you!

Don't take my word for it, but when I was setting this wonderland up this weekend, the little birthday girl was watching my every move, asking me loads of questions about all the steps and all materials I was unpacking. Why did you bring this? she asked, turning my sparkly decoration around. Where is this feather from? she asked again, stroking my swan feather I get to use thanks to (thank you for your donation, dear Annette!) and then, when she was quizzing me about which of the flowers were real, dried or artificial, I noticed that I probably seemed like a giant wizard pulling all sorts of secret things out of my magic hat.

I enjoyed every moment with the sparkly eyes of this darling, understanding that what I get to do might seem magical in a little girls eyes: transforming the piano / movie theatre room into her very own dream tea party wonderland.

How are you feeling about giving second chances?

This weekend, luckily, a second chance proved to be a good choice for this gorgeous family. The last sleepover was maybe a bit too much to handle, but this year, with a few less children and maybe even a few less expectations, it went really well. Everyone was relaxed and content afterwards and I felt so relieved that the full magic of being together and chatting and laughing late into the night is what truly made the memories of tomorrow come to life.

When I got invited to this lovely family in Basel, my first reaction was: are you really sure? Do you REALLY want me to come from Zurich all the way to Basel to set up a teepee party for your daughter's birthday? I was almost doubting that the family really wanted me to come, my teepees, my style, my work, no one else, no one else's service. Be sure there are plenty of others, but no, they wanted me.

Sometimes I find it hard to feel like I deserve to work for all the amazing families who hire me and my ideas, trust me, trust in my vision, sometimes it is no more than an idea and then we'll make it work on their party date. Something completely new, every new arrival and ring of the doorbell opens another room, another setting, another atmosphere, another vision.

I am truly excited about each and every party I get to do, every family I get to meet, every memory I help to shape. It is no empty line, I am truly grateful.
