❗️⚠️Public Announcement from SEK Humane Society❗️⚠️

Friends and supporters, we need to share some difficult but important news about the future of our shelter.

Over the past several years, our costs for veterinary care, staffing, utilities, and supplies have continued to rise, while donations and grants have dropped to unsustainable levels. Despite every effort to stretch resources, we are now at risk of closing our doors at the end of this year without new financial support.

Because of this, beginning in September, we will pause all new animal intakes until financial security is established. Our shelter is already at maximum capacity, and this pause is necessary so we can focus fully on providing the best care possible to the animals already in our shelter and work tirelessly to get them adopted into loving homes.

We want you to know that we are not giving up. We will be meeting with the Crawford County Commissioners today, September 2nd, to request consistent monthly funding that will allow the shelter to remain open and continue serving our community. Along with adoption services, this support would enable us to expand benefits to county residents, such as free microchipping clinics, the return of low-cost vaccine clinics, reserved kennels for law enforcement use, and free educational workshops at community spaces.

We understand this news may be alarming, and we know many of you will have questions. Please know we are committed to transparency every step of the way. Your continued support whether through donations, adoptions, volunteering, or simply sharing our message is more important now than ever before.

The SEK Humane Society has been a part of Crawford County for over 50 years, helping thousands of animals and families. Together, with your support and the county’s partnership, we can ensure that this vital work continues for years to come.

Someone the other day said that I have a special way with dogs. Made my heart smile. This client told me their previous groomer told them “ He’s a pain” and charged extra. She warned me he is awful for his feet and doesn’t like to stand for his butt. He did GREAT!! 🥰

I try my hardest to respond to every message and to get everyone scheduled but sometimes I miss them or I open them and forget to respond and I am so sorry for that! It’s hard raising a toddler and starting up a business but I love it and I appreciate everyone’s constant support. If you don’t hear from me within a day, either message me again or you can also book online. It is crazy to me to think that it has been a year since I did my first groom as Dirty Dog Rescue Team! Thank you guys so much for your continued support as we’ve worked out all of the kinks that come along with starting your own business. You guys are amazing and I love you all!
