Dr. Trach is taking a much needed break this week! As such, there will be NO VET AVAILABLE IN CLINIC during the week of July 6-10. The CLINIC WILL STILL BE OPEN during regular business hours to pick up supplies, etc. There also will be NO AFTER-HOUR emergency services available from July 5-12. Normal services resume Monday July 13. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Vitality Veterinary Services is in search of a full-time RVT to join our team. We currently staff 2 DVMs, 2.5 RVTs, one assistant, and one receptionist. Our brand-new mixed animal clinic is equipped with an in-house laboratory (IDEXX), x-ray, ultrasound, indoor large animal handling facilities (bovine and equine), and a pharmacy.
Services offered include mixed animal routine preventive care, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and at-home euthanasia.

We foster a fun, respectful, and supportive work environment, and are passionate about providing an appropriate work-life balance.

We recognize the full skill set of an RVT, and feel it is important to allow as many of those skills to be utilized as possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for anesthesia induction and surgical monitoring, dental cleanings, radiology, patient care, technician-related appointments, venipuncture, cytology, etc.; shared duties include answering phones, scheduling appointments, inventory management, client education in person and over the phone, and other reception related tasks.

We are looking for a compassionate RVT with exceptional communication skills, established technical skills, a hunger to learn, and the ability to go-with-the flow. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is an asset, but new graduates are also welcomed to apply.

Now that calvings are slowing down, we want to share what have been deemed our most interesting cases over the season, and potentially ever!

Cow 22J presented in March 2026. Her owners noticed her calving, and after some time they discovered she couldn’t do it on her own. After attempting to help her, they found they were unable to pull the calf, so called on Dr. Trach. Upon examination Dr. Trach was able to tell that this was not going to be a “normal” birth as he felt two heads and multiple feet. At this point it was decided that a caesarean section would be best. The c-section was performed and two calves were delivered, unfortunately already deceased.

Skip forward to the end of April 2026; another cow presented very similar to the one seen in March. The producer was unable to pull the calf so brought it into the clinic for help. Upon examination by Dr. Trach it was determined that a c-section was needed for delivery. Again, two calves were delivered, and again they were already deceased.

What was unusual about both sets of calves born was that in each case there were two calves attached together at the chest and abdomen; they were conjoined twins!

This event is extremely rare; estimated to affect approximately 1 in 100,000 births. After the first case in March, it was thought to be very unlikely that Dr. Trach would ever experience that again in his career. What a surprise for a very similar case to present only a month later!

Conjoined twins are typically born deceased. If born alive, they often pass soon after birth as they tend to share a heart, liver, sternum, colon, and/or pelvic structures.

Conjoined twins develop like this when the embryo fails to divide completely during development. There are many different types of conjoined twins, based on where the joining occurs. Both cases Dr. Trach delivered were attached in similar locations; termed thoracopagus.

Drs. Trach and Johnsgaard are celebrating their FIFTEEN years together today!! What better way to celebrate than to get a new power head for the clinic's central vacc system to keep the rugs s***k and span! 😆
We don't have many opportunities to get the whole team gathered (including the 'real boss' down in his car seat) for updated pictures together, so this seemed like as good a time as any.

Vitality Veterinary Services is in search of a mixed animal veterinarian to join our team in Yorkton, SK. This will be a full-time position in a brand new mixed animal clinic. Our practice is equipped with IDEXX blood machines, ultrasound, digital and dental radiography, and more; a comprehensive pharmacy; and an expansive area for bovine and equine handling facilities including a maternity chute, a hydraulic squeeze chute, and equine stocks. Services offered include routine preventative care, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, radiology, and at-home euthanasia.

We foster a fun, respectful, and supportive work environment, and are passionate about providing a high standard of medicine. We’re looking for a DVM with experience with both large and small animals, exceptional communication skills, established technical skills, a hunger to learn, and the ability to go-with-the flow. Our practice is 99% paperless so basic computer and veterinary software knowledge is beneficial. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is an asset, but new graduates are welcome to apply, and mentorship is available.
