You will never own a dog like him and hereās why.
I didnāt just end up with this dog, I built our relationship from the ground up long before he ever treed his first c**n. I hunted with his mom. I hunted with his dad. I met the men behind them and paid attention to more than just what showed up on a scorecard. I listened to how they opened, how they moved a track, how they finished. I watched their style, their accuracy, their heart. I knew exactly what I was looking for before I ever saw the litter. I knew the look I wanted, I knew the mouth I wanted, I knew the drive, the grit, and the brains I expected, and just as important, I knew I wanted to represent blood that came from good, honest people who cared about these dogs the right way. So when the time came, I didnāt guess, I chose. And that was just the beginning. He came home and lived in our house with my wife and kids. I house broke him. I walked him in the woods during the day when nobody was watching. I laid drags. I fed him, watered him, and put my hands on him every single day. I taught him how to ride in a truck, how to handle, how to be part of our life. Then came the nights. Long ones. Cold ones. Nights where nothing went right and nights where everything finally clicked. I stood in the dark listening to him figure it out piece by piece, track by track, mistake by mistake. I hunted him when it was easy and I hunted him when it wasnāt. That dog didnāt just become something special, he became part of our story. Part of our family. Part of memories that will outlast all of us. So why will you never own a dog like this one? Because youāre not supposed to. Youāre not me, and thatās exactly how it should be. Youāve got your own eye, your own expectations, your own standards, and if you do it right, you wonāt end up with this dog, youāll end up with one that means even more to you. But that only happens when you stop chasing what someone else has. Figure out exactly what YOU want in a dog. Be honest about it. Go find the blood that matches it. Raise one. Mess up. Learn. Put in the time when nobodyās watching. Because the truth is, you can buy a started dog, you can buy a finished dog, but you will never buy what comes with building one yourself. And hereās the best part, thatās a good thing. You have the same opportunity to build exactly what you want, to shape a dog that fits your standards, your style, and your life. And if you do it right, you wonāt just end up with a good dog, youāll end up with a lifetime of memories that are yours and yours alone, built one day at a time.
