Cats were originally dessert animal and can tolerate heat. They cannot however handle excessive heat since their domestication. Cats can only tolerate 29.5°C-32°C for approximately 15-30mins with access to plenty of proper shade and water. Exposure to above 37°C can lead to an emergency life-threating situation very quickly. Let's be sure to help our cats have a safe cool summer!!

Due to the fact rabbits cannot sweat. They need an ideal environment of 15°C-20°C. If temperatures are consistently exceeding above 25°C it can pose a serious risk of heat stroke. Anything above 30°C is considered life threating! Please take precaution when enjoying outdoor time with your bunny this summer!!

Did you know your dog can in fact burn their paw pads on hot pavement! Before heading out for a walk we need to follow the 7 sec rule. The Rule: Place the back of your hand directly on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it is too hot for your skin, it is too hot for your dog's paws. Stick to grassy or shaded areas.

It's easy to forget how quickly a parked car can heat up! In just 10mins of a car being parked the interior temperature can climb nearly 11°C higher then outside temperatures. Winnipeg's Responsible Pet Ownership By-law prohibits leaving dogs unattended in a vehicle when the outside temperature is 22°C or warmer.
