EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY-June 4th, 2026- PLEASE READ

For the past 19 years, We have been running PWRC as a volunteer based charity. Over the last 15 years, we have admitted and rehabilitated more than 2,000 animals annually.

As you know, every year brings new challenges and changes related to volunteers, funding, donations, politics, staffing, and the increasing costs of wildlife rehabilitation, including food, medical care, and facility maintenance. After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to begin winding down the organization.

This summer will be our final operating season. Effective Thursday, June 4th, we will no longer be admitting new wildlife patients. If you come across an injured and orphaned wildlife, please contact :

Our focus will be on completing the rehabilitation of the animals currently in our care at the St. Adolphe site. We will continue to rely on community support to care for the wildlife patients still in our care—especially the four fox kits, who require a specialized diet to grow and thrive. Their expected release will be in August/September.

Every donation helps ensure these young animals receive the proper nutrition and care they need for a successful return to the wild. Thank you for being part of their journey.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision, but we are proud of the work we have done and the effort we have made to help injured and orphaned wildlife over the years.

We would like to extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to Pembina Veterinary Hospital and Winnipeg Emergency Veterinary Clinic for nearly 20 years of dedicated support as a trusted wildlife drop-off location for PWRC.

Because of your compassion and commitment, thousands of animals have received a second chance at life through our doors. Your long-standing partnership has made an incredible impact on wildlife in our community, and we are truly grateful.

We are forever thankful for your generosity, care, and unwavering support.

🚨 𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 – 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 🚨

As of today, June 3, 2026, Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre will no longer be accepting new wildlife patients. This is a difficult but necessary decision, made so that current patients can continue to receive the quality of care they deserve.

If you come across an injured or orphaned wild animal, our colleagues at Bridgwater Veterinary Hospital and Wellness Centre are still able to accept wildlife cases, which will then be transported to Wildlife Haven for treatment. Patients can also be dropped off directly at their campus in Ile des Chênes.

We're looking for donations of old newspapers to help care for our patients! Newspaper is used daily throughout the hospital to keep animals comfortable and clean during their stay.

If you have newspapers you'd like to donate, they can be dropped off at the clinic during regular business hours.

As we continue undergoing renovations to improve our space and better serve you and your pets, we wanted to share a quick update on what to expect during this period:

🚐 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Due to construction impacting our regular reception area, a, trailer is set up in our parking lot to assist clients

🐾 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 – Now drop-off style: please call when you arrive, we will bring your pet inside, and you’re welcome to wait in your car or head home

🛍️ 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 & 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸-𝗨𝗽𝘀 – Available at the reception trailer

⏳ 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀 – Some orders may take longer than usual to arrive

At PVH, our reception team is at the heart of everything we do. From managing phones and appointments to supporting clients and our medical team, they handle it all with compassion, patience, and skill. They’re often the first friendly voice you hear and play such an important role in every visit!

We also want to thank the receptionists at the other clinics we connect with each day – your teamwork and support make a difference across our entire veterinary community.

Common household foods and products can be toxic to dogs and cats. Even small amounts can cause serious illness, so it’s important to keep these items stored safely out of reach.

If you think your pet may have ingested something harmful, contact us right away! You can also call the Pet Poison Helpline: 📞 𝟴𝟬𝟬-𝟮𝟭𝟯-𝟲𝟲𝟴𝟬.

Peanut first came into our care when she was at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, we were able to step in, give her a second chance, and transfer her to Head to Tail Pet Rehabilitation for continued rehabilitation and care.

Now, this sweet girl is ready for the next chapter of her story – a loving home of her own! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST TO HELP PEANUT! 🐾
