There is an awful lot of "ground shrinkage" on bears..hold out and try to judge accordingly if your looking for a Tank.

Spring has sprung, Summer is on the way...
I just finished this reclaimed live edge, epoxy out door sitting table today. Putting more " etc " in Antlers etc.
Is " Your " Taxidermist well rounded, creative, artistic and interested in doing other things.??
Yeah..Didnt think so....this is Manitoba after all...
If youd like to get onto the clientele list theres room. Got a project in mind.? Id love to discuss it.
P.s for those of you who dont follow my personal account, I am also in the process of carving a Northern pike wooden statue ( last pic) its in the painting stages now.

Tis the season.! Spring Bear Season in Manitoba that is....as always i'd like to make mention of a few things so bare with me it could be a long one.
Your bear hide will spoil quicker than the meat.
When you are successful, and youve skinned/caped your hide it is VERY important to spread it out and let it COOL , try to skin off as much meat as possible especially around the neck area.Every piece of thick meat left on means longer cooling and freezing time which may result in Bacteria,
And Bacteria + Heat = Hair slippage .!!!
Place hide loosey in bag and freeze asap. Do Not Roll up.! Like Anything else you should have an idea of what youd like done taxidermy wise...consult a Taxidermist for proper capeing techinques and fur handling instructions if your not sure. Ask for photos of recent work and references if need be..
Like Tattoo artists, Taxidermist have their own individual style of art. And lets face it, its getting more and more expensive so making the proper choice means getting back a quality mount. I myself am always available for questions or help so do not hesitate to contact me. What happens after you pull that trigger or release that arrow is essential to how your mount will look.

Wooo boy.! I just love to see the effort and work come together when its finished. Beautiful bear, and a simple but artistic base wraps it up quite nicely..I am hopeing to get a few more in this spring. Good luck everyone and please keep me in mind.

Most people do not really understand the step by step, tedious, intricate, and sometimes painful process proper taxidermy really is.! Ohh sure is easy to scroll thru photos and look at finished mounts. But the flip side is after skinning, fleshing salting (and some do their own tanning.!) My day will be spent secondary fleshing, sewing holes, unrolling lips and eye lids, fleshing noses and nostrils, setting ears, mannikin prepping, test fitting etc etc..its a labour of love thats for sure.

This sunshine and warmer temps are giving me the opportunity to crack a couple windows to create, paint, touch up and finish this Tank of a bear.! As Always the REAL nose was used, and the artifical rock and ground were made from scratch here in studio.

Just picked up the second Bear for half lifesize... Have to place the supply order lookin forward to the mounting process, wont be long now.

"The Thing.!" Just finished putting the final touches on this Big ol Wild Boar. I am pleased with the out come and hope the client is as well. It was quite an interesting project .

With the spring bear season a few short months away, this is a prime example of a dandy Manitoba black bear. The project is progressing great with a few hiccups along the way as usual....just have to figure out a base for the paws to stand on.
