Today we take a shot for Melvin.
As we grow in age and reach,
We lose those who we once dedicated every moment to.
Ivy, I believe we will see Melvin again.
Cheers to you, big guy.
Through tears, we will see you on the other side

Adopted!

Lasagna and Taquito have found their furever home together!
Lasagna is the last from his litter and Taquito was dropped off a week ago after being found on the side of the road by a kind passerby.
Taquito is too young for first vaccines yet so he is in foster - to - adopt until his vetting is done.

Over the next couple of months, we will be hosting cats from a local shelter so we will be full until their renovations are complete.

We currently have 2 medical adult female cats in care - Clementine and Cabernet are still finding their best selves to become adoptable.

Vivian is looking for a perfect home, but she may become a sanctuary girl at this point. We love her so much, she is such a great girl with specific needs.

Haven and Henry are our main Sanctuary dogs.

We have one bonded pair of chinchillas and a single chinchilla looking for a loving home. All are male and hand friendly.

We also have a dog coming back to us soon - an adoption from years ago who is unable to move with his family's next stage in life. He will be a senior now and we are looking forward to getting to know him again in the near future.

We run the way we do for a very important reason.
We take it low and slow for a very important reason.
We put all we have into the animals in our care, and hope we can help the next ones that need us too.
Yes rescue still runs our lives, even if we have 5+ animals in care or 40. Each of their lives matters and we know they each deserve only the best of care.

Another goodbye for now :(

Ralphie has passed on.
He was surrendered and adopted at 18 years old and impressed everyone with his tenacity.
Ralphies bonded friend was lost the day he was scheduled for surrender.
He fit right in with Nancy and lived with love
We'll see you again, my friend.

Driver found!!

The teensiest orphan ever is looking for a lift
From Wiarton to Innisfil Michelle Leigh

Pretty sure that at 3 hours old this is the youngest baby I've ever hand fed.
Nursing mom is always best option and Michelle has graciously offered to try with Will but he needs a ride if anyone is going that way or is wanting to go for a drive on this rainy Saturday.
We can cover gas and a meal for the driver as our thank you

Unfortunately the mom rejected her babies, as sometimes happens but can be quite traumatic for the humans, as it was in Wills case. Thankfully the owners arrived home and were able to save Will.

Some things that take up our hearts happen behind the scenes in the evenings and weekends.
This little one arrived with a collapsed lung at only 4 weeks old and gasping for air, our incredibly kind vet team said goodbye to her for us.
She passed surrounded by love and gentleness.
She touched quite a few lives in her short time.
Even her tiny life mattered.
