First crop 2025 is done. Cut Monday evening. Used the new tedder Tuesday morning. (Which worked awesome!)Raked Wednesday late morning/early afternoon.(Using the double rake hitch that I built.)Then baled later that day with our new to us baler purchased from southern Ontario.
Amazing how fast the hay dried. Baled it at between 14 and 11% moisture. The hay looks and smells amazing. Wish that there was air fresheners that smelled like freshly made hay.
Hopefully we get some rain now to get second crop going. We can really use it since our yield was down to about half of what we usually get!

Wow, what a beauty!!! Looking great Dusty!

Sorrel 2017 AQHA Mare, Kings Bolo Vista. Vista was lightly started and ridden as a 2/3 year old. She’s been a broodmare since and had two beautiful foals.

Vista remembers her groundwork and lunges on and off the line very nicely. I’ve saddled her this year and worked her, but haven’t ridden her.

She would make a great prospect or continue as an excellent broodmare. She takes excellent care of her babies and produces a ton of milk. She’s currently open and no foal at foot.

Vista’s been in tie and box stalls, and outside full time. She’s utd on vaccinations, deworming and had her hooves trimmed May 3.

Today was extra chores day as it usually is on the weekends.
Today was more special than usual though because today we also separated the brood mares from the rest of the herd.
Missy, Molly, and Vista didn’t waste much time being alone in their own pen. All three within half an hour were laying down in the freshly laid out straw.
A big thank you to Belinda for helping with the chores today. It’s very much appreciated!!😊

What a gorgeous day!!! After so much extreme cold it was so nice to have a warm, sunny day. Especially since Joe was so nice to snow blow the arena and I got to ride Belinda’s lovely new gelding Zeke!!!😊 It was so good to be in the saddle again, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face! 😃 The horses were enjoying the day too, we put out fresh hay and straw and they all got to be naked!

A beautiful second crop bale for Echo. The third bale of the 2024 haying season. The second crop was sprayed with hay preservative at 16 to 22% moisture. The first two bales didn’t have any spots that were heated or mouldy. The hay preservative I think was well worth the investment!!
The second and third pictures are the group herd looking to see if the tractor is going to bring them more hay too! Even though they just got fed a couple of days ago and still have a bunch of hay to eat. That beautiful green hay is first crop that was baled without any rain on it this past summer! They sure do like to scatter it around and look for all the yummy stuff first!! Lol
