ROOBY-DOO IS HOME SAFE!!!
Rooby-Doo was spooked by a loud biker while out on a walk with his dog walker and slipped out of his harness. He ran into a trail, was later seen nearly a kilometre away near Nicowynd Golf Course, and then disappeared.
Petsearchers was called and began searching yesterday evening. We completed a thorough drone search of the area where he was last seen, but there was no sign of him. This was a large rural area with endless places to run and hide — including large properties, ravines, and extensive trail systems.
Overnight, we received one sighting indicating he had circled back closer to where he originally went missing. Parker and Julia returned early this morning to continue the search. Despite covering more ground and getting large posters up around the area, there was still no sign of him until another sighting came in.
This time, Rooby-Doo was spotted a couple kilometres away in a completely new area, likely having travelled through the ravines to get there. We responded immediately, with bloodhound Hunter working the area while thermal drone searches were conducted overhead.
Finally, this afternoon, one more tip came in — and this was the sighting that brought him home. Rooby-Doo had been seen running into a yard with very dense cover. The area was quiet, which made it a good place for him to settle down and hide. Parker and Julia responded with Rooby-Doo’s owners, got the drone in the air, and were able to get eyes on him. As his owners carefully moved toward the back of the property, sure enough, Rooby-Doo came out of hiding.
There were lots of tears, hugs, and relief when he was finally safe back in his owners’ arms. We’re so happy this sweet boy is out of danger and home where he belongs.
Thank you to everyone in the Crescent area who kept an eye out, shared posts, and called in sightings. It’s always incredible to see how strong and caring the local dog community is when a pet goes missing!
