Exciting News!

The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society are partnering with the Southeastern Ontario Spay Neuter Clinic in Trenton to offer accessible transportation for spay/neuter services for cats only July, 2025!

The Humane Society of Durham Region (1505 Wentworth Street, Whitby, ON L1N 0H9) will be the location for drop-off and pick-up, with drop-off at 6:30 a.m. and pick-up at 5 p.m.

Our Story

The Humane Society of Durham Region (HSDR) is an independent affiliate of the Ontario S.P.C.A. and Humane Society.

HSDR is made up of a Volunteer Board of Directors, staff members and volunteers. We are a community resource, dedicated to protecting and providing temporary shelter and comfort to all companion animals in need, while promoting adoptions and re-homing for unwanted, abused, neglected and abandoned pets. HSDR promotes humane treatment of all living things. HSDR is a non-profit organization serving all of Durham Region. We rely on the contributions of our donors and supporters in order to provide care and a home for the animals.

To provide compassionate care for abused, abandoned, and neglected animals in our community while they await their new beginning in life.
