Durham's Crate Escape - Community Pack Walk ✨

Yesterday’s Community Pack Walk was everything we hoped it would be and more. 🐾❤️

Even with the weather not fully on our side, this community still showed up and we are so incredibly grateful. Seeing both familiar faces and new ones come together with the same goal of building better relationships with their dogs in such a calm, supportive environment meant so much to us.

Every single dog did amazing. From the beginning of the walk to the end, we saw confidence grow, engagement improve, and so many small wins that add up to big progress. The respect everyone showed by giving dogs space, advocating for their dogs, and supporting one another is exactly what these walks are all about.

We also want to say thank you for all of the love and support shown to us, our dogs, and especially Penny. 💜 Watching so many people welcome and love her already meant more to us than we can put into words. 🫶🏻

While we may not be fully back to business yet, being able to offer group events like this again and continue supporting our community in this way feels really special to us. We truly hope to run more walks and controlled group programs like this in the near future.

Thank you again to everyone who came out and made yesterday such a success. Our hearts are soo full. ❤️ We can’t wait to see and walk with you again soon! 🐾

For those who were part of our walks and programs a few years ago, you already know these were never 'just walks'. They became a place for connection, support, learning, confidence building, encouragement, and unforgettable memories with incredible dogs and people. 🐾✨

These events always brought together people who all share a common goal and mindset. People who understand the training journey, celebrate the wins, support one another through the hard moments, and show up for each other and their dogs without judgement. Watching dogs learn to trust, relax, and enjoy themselves while owners found confidence, support and community was always something truly special. 💜

So… we are bringing it back. Because there is something incredibly meaningful about coming together again, especially during life’s harder moments. ✨

Whether you have been with DCE since the beginning or are completely new here, we would absolutely love to have you join us for this special walk. 🥹🐾

Our walks focus on structured and controlled walking, neutral exposure/socialization, real-world training opportunities, confidence building, and community support for both dogs and handlers.

Most importantly, this walk is about coming together again as a community alongside the dog who has been at the heart of DCE from the very beginning. PENNY! 💜🐾

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, fur moms, and mother figures. 🐾💜

Before becoming a mother to my son, there were always my dogs, including my girl Penny. Dogs were my first best friends, my first big responsibility, and such a constant throughout my life. For so many of us, they become our first 'babies', teaching us patience, consistency, responsibility, and unconditional love long before we ever step into motherhood. I know so many dog moms can relate to the way our dogs shape us, stand beside us through every season, and become such a meaningful part of who we are.

In my life, Penny has been there through every transition. Quietly growing alongside me and, in her own way, helping usher me into motherhood. Now she gets to share in this new chapter too, right alongside my son, now becoming his very first taste of puppy love. I couldn't be more grateful. 🥰

Whether you’re raising babies, raising dogs, doing both, or simply pouring your love into those who depend on you, today is for you too! The nurturing, care, devotion, and love you give matter deeply, and that bond deserves to be celebrated in all its forms. ✨

Happy Gotcha Day to my girl, Penny. 💜🐾✨

This past weekend, on May 2, we celebrated Penny’s seventh Gotcha Day! 🎉 Seven incredible years with the dog who has shaped so much of my life, both personally and within this community.

After sharing her cancer diagnosis here recently, I’ve been overwhelmed by the love, support, messages, and kindness you’ve shown us. It has meant more than I can properly put into words. ❤️

This season of life has reminded me to slow down and appreciate the moments that can so easily be overlooked. The walks, the adventures, the routines, and even the quiet moments in between. Right now, we’re focusing on enjoying our 'now' together and appreciating every moment we still get to share. (Enjoy a walk down memory lane and swipe through Penny's previous gotcha days.)

Over the years, Penny has become such a special part of this community. My right hand girl and center of the pack, a calming helper to so many dogs, and a friend to everyone she meets.

To honour her, we will be hosting a Community Pack Walk later this month. 💜🐕

The Face of a Fighter 🐶💪🏻🎗️🐾

Next month marks seven years with Penny. 💜
Sometimes it feels surreal to look back at where we started and where we are now. 💫

She’s my right-hand girl. My forever best friend. The heartbeat behind this company, and a helper to so many others along the way.
To know her is to love her… and if you know me, you know just how deep that love runs. 💞

If you’ve ever met Penny or worked with us, you already understand what makes her so special. 🥰

We don’t know what the future holds, but right now we’re soaking in every single day we have together. She keeps fighting, and somehow still lets her joy shine through it all. So, I’ll keep fighting right beside her. 💪🏻

I’ve always believed dogs come into our lives for a reason.
To help us. To teach us. To guide us. They show us how to find joy in the smallest, simplest moments. How to live and love without conditions, hesitation, or holding back. 🐕

I'd like to believe maybe that’s what Penny is still teaching me now… to slow down and be present, to follow happiness, and to truly appreciate every moment we’re given together. ❤️

And maybe that's why this next chapter matters so much.
Because dogs like her don’t just change one life, they leave a mark on everyone they touch. 💜

I think that’s something worth celebrating. ✨
So keep your eyes open for what’s coming. We would love for you to be a part of it! 👀

We asked if you missed us just as much as we missed all of you, and WOW, did you all respond! 🥰 So here we go! 💜🌷🌟

Durham's Crate Escape is super excited to present our second annual Easter Event!🐰 This Easter themed DCE Community Pack Walk and Pup Easter Egg Hunt will be hosted on Good Friday! 🐾🐣

This Friday April 7, we invite our DCE community members to join us for a structured pack walk, training activities, as well a fun Easter Egg Hunt for the pups! 🐕🥚🦴

You have seen our unique community programs before, and you all know the drill! Community Support, Pack Walking, Structured Socialization, Training Activities and more! 💜 For our Easter Event we will also be hosting a dog friendly 'Pup Easter Egg Treat Hunt'. This was an absolute blast last year! So just like last time, we will prepare and have plastic Easter Eggs with high value treats in them, hidden and spread across the field. Dogs will keep in their designated areas and use their noses to hunt out their eggs and yummy treats. 🐶🧺🩷

These community events are like no other, you do not want to miss out! 🎉

If you are a DCE pack member, or have attended our walks in the past please watch your emails. Details and registration forms will follow via email, and will also provide location information. 📧
