HAPPY GOTCHA DAY!!!
today is the day 3 years ago that I brought my Pretty Poppy home.
She has taught me so much, was my helper in getting my dog training certification.
Shes my best friend, my protector and my reason to keep going some days!
Happy gotcha day to my heart and soul dog Poppy!!!

Today, I got the opportunity to shadow an agility trainer and it was one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time! I haven't stopped smiling and rethinking everything i witnessed tonight and it was amazing!
I haven't felt this ecstatic about things in general since I first got interested in dog training over 2 years ago and it is an amazing feeling!!!
I cannot wait to see what the next 2 shadow days have in store! Here's to an exciting 2 more weeks!

Day 3

Using the scratch bored for the 3rd day and time today.
Poppy was actually excited when I grabbed it off the counter.
She started trying to scratch before I even had the treat loaded hahaha
She is also now responding to the cue "Scratch" fairly regularly as well.
And!
Whenever I would like her to use her other paw, I lightly tap her paw and say "Scratch" at the same time
So proud!

Once a day is all it takes!

🐾 Nail Trims 🐾

Even being a dog trainer and using cooperative care with Poppy, one thing I am still not comfortable with is cutting her nails. Especially because she has black nails that I cannot see the quick well.
So I decided to invest in a scratch board for her.
The first night (yesterday the 13) she did a few little touches and you know what, that is perfectly okay!!!
Tonight, I used a higher value treat, freeze dried salmon, and we did about 5 passes on each paw and the board tonight is a lot more used!
Not only does this help keep her nails filed down, it also works her brain because she is still figuring out how to get those rewards!

Laser Pointer Syndrome is real and it breaks my heart to see the after effects of it on dogs.
