Bring them home a yummy treat instead of including them on a busy hot day!!

Butter Tart Festival weekend is almost here, and I know a lot of people like to bring their dogs with them whenever they can.
But it’s worth considering that just because dogs are allowed at an event doesn’t always mean it’s the best place for them 🐾

Heat isn’t the only thing that can make a busy festival too much for a lot of dogs.
Crowds, kids, other dogs, strollers, and strangers reaching out to pet them can become really overwhelming, really fast — especially when there isn't much space to move away.

Some dogs do genuinely enjoy busy environments and can settle in really well.
But for a lot of dogs, an event like this is less of a fun outing and more of a stressful experience 🌪

Before you go, it might be worth asking yourself:

🧘 Have they been to busy places like this before and been able to stay fairly relaxed?
🐕‍🦺 Can they move through crowds calmly, without getting stressed or trying to pull away?
👀 Will you be able to pay close attention to them the whole time — the way you would with a small child in a busy public space?
🌳 Will they have easy access to space, shade, water, and breaks?
🚗 If your dog starts to get overwhelmed, do you have a plan to give them space or head home?

If a few of those questions are making you think, “Hmm… maybe not,” keeping them home might be the better option.

2026 Brides & Grooms !!

Lately we’ve seen a huge influx of last-minute booking requests and honestly, it breaks my heart every time we have to tell someone we can’t help.

We are incredibly lucky to have what I believe is the largest team of pet wedding chaperones in Canada, and we always do everything we can to make it work. Even when we’re fully booked, I’m usually texting colleagues across Ontario trying to find a solution for a couple.

We’re seeing family friends and neighbours back out, casual pet sitters cancel at the last minute, and venues implement policies requiring an insured professional handler. We completely understand why couples turn to us. This is exactly what we do.

But if having your dog at your wedding is important to you, please don’t wait until 3, 7, or 14 days before your event to reach out.

Behind every booking is a lot of coordination. Matching the right handler, reviewing timelines, arranging transportation, understanding your dog’s personality, coordinating with vendors, confirming logistics, and making sure we can deliver the experience you deserve.

The funny thing about this business is that one email might be from a couple getting married next weekend, and the next is a couple planning their 2028 wedding. We’re often booking 2027 and 2028 weddings while simultaneously fielding requests for this month.

We will always do our best to help when we can. But if you know you want your dog included, our biggest piece of advice is simple: book early. Ideally 4-6 months in advance, and even earlier for peak season dates.

Your future self (and your wedding planning stress levels) will thank you. ❤️
