Many of us think of fleas and ticks as a “summer only” problem — but in many places, ticks are just as active in the early fall. Make sure to check your dog (and yourself!) for ticks after every single hike even as the weather cools down.

Our favorite way to quickly remove these pests? With a designated tick removal hook. All you have to do is twist and pull!

If that isn’t an option, you can also:
• Use fine-point tweezers
• Spread the fur around the bite area
• Grab the tick as close to the skin as possible
• Pull straight upward in a slow, steady motion

It’s pumpkin season! Give your dog a taste of with this easy homemade treat recipe.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup flour
• 3/4 cup canned pumpkin (make sure it’s plain puree, NOT pie filling with added sugar)
• 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
Instructions:
• Mix pumpkin and peanut butter in a large bowl, then gradually stir in flour
• If the mixture is too dry, you can add a splash of unsalted broth, water, or more pumpkin
• Roll the dough onto a floured surface
• Cut into shapes with your favorite cookie cutter (bonus if it’s dog-themed)
• Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet
• Enjoy!
