So many calls for help and just recently “well there are people with snakes that will take them then..” when I said “no” to a person looking to rehome momma bun and her 8 babies.
Please read and share this excellent post. This applies to all rescues but small animal are the worst because you know their fate is grim every time you say “no.”
Imagine getting contacted and tagged by everyone you know as well as their friends, family, and acquaintances, who saw a post or knew of a homeless person needing help or someone needing a job or someone who was sick and needed help. Now imagine that there is absolutely NOTHING that you yourself are willing or can do to help. That’s what rabbit rescue is like. Everyone wants you to help. Everyone contacts you. Everyone tags you. Think you’d get overwhelmed? Compassion fatigue is real! No matter how small, when it comes to a living creature please think of a way you can help other than tagging and sharing with an already overwhelmed
person/rescue. We want to thank those of you who step up and help when we ask for fosters, volunteers, donations❤️ Thank you for being there and helping us💖🐇 Thank you for not just bringing us a problem but being willing to help with a solution. We are not a shelter. We are a foster based rescue. There’s only so much we can do and even then our volunteers tirelessly try to save as many rabbits as possible. It’s heartbreaking when we run out of room or finances💔 We do our absolute best. Saying no is more difficult than we can explain. Please, please remember we are volunteers, still we receive never ending texts, emails, phone calls and tags everyday all day asking us to help.
