Happy Halloween!

As we enjoy all the Halloween fun, let’s not forget our furry family members!
A little extra care goes a long way in keeping them safe and comfortable tonight.

A few friendly reminders:

🐾No chocolate or candy!
Keep all Halloween treats out of their reach. Some can be very dangerous for our pets.

🐾Keep them away from the doorbell!
All that ringing, knocking and excitement can be stressful and overwhelming.

🐾Watch those doors!
With trick-or-treaters coming and going, make sure your pets don’t sneak outside.

🐾Be mindful of costumes and decorations.
Keep anything they could chew, swallow, or get tangled in out of reach.

🐾Give them a safe, quiet space.
Not every pet enjoys all the Halloween excitement and that’s okay!

Most importantly, remember that our pets count on us to keep them safe. Let’s make sure they’re included in the love, even if they sit this spooky celebration out.

We’ve been a little quiet on socials again lately as we’ve been busy behind the scenes as well as out in the field.
We are currently training new team members and getting things ready for many changes in the new year. It’s an extremely busy time but also very exciting.

This is our most favourite time of the year. The colours and cooler walks are most welcomed by us and the dogs.

Solo & Rosie are one of our weekly regular clients and you’ll see them on here quite often.

The absolute BEST dog-walking weather last week!
Just a little chilly but that crisp fall air is what makes this time of year so perfect. Not too hot, not too cold… just right!
Baloo definitely agrees!

Today we are on the soggy side but hopeful next week will be just as great as last week.

I had a heartbreaking conversation yesterday. A woman had just put her beloved 4-year-old cat to sleep because he was peeing outside the litter box.

She told me she’d done multiple urinalyses and they were all normal. “He just developed an incurable behavior problem,” she told me. She was heartbroken.

I asked her how often she was scooping the litter box, and there was a long pause.

“Maybe once a week.”

I asked how often she was completely emptying and cleaning her cat’s litter box and replacing the litter. She couldn’t remember, because she just added more litter when the box got low.

Imagine only flushing your toilet once a week—and never cleaning it. Eventually, even entering your bathroom would become almost unbearable.

Cats feel the same way.

They are incredibly clean animals, and if their toilet is disgusting, they may choose to stop using it and find a more acceptable place to go potty (for them, not for you).

😿 I’ve spent the last 24 hours thinking about this potentially unnecessary euthanasia, so I’ve decided to do a PSA about it 💔:

If your cat suddenly stops using the litter box, there could absolutely be a medical reason, so always rule that out first. But if your cat is healthy, take a hard look at your litter box hygiene.

Scoop every day. Disinfect it often. Replace the litter regularly. Cats deserve a clean potty, too.

It matters to your cat, and therefore it should matter to you. ❤️
