Does anyone know what Dani, VA is holding in her hands? Bonus points if you can tell us what it's used for too!

ANSWER (June 4, 2026):
She is holding Frick Speculums. They are primarily used in cattle to safely pass a stomach tube and administer medications. If they are not used, the animal could bite down and damage the stomach tube being passed leading to more complications.

We have said "Goodbye" to so many lately, and we are thankful we can honor them through our "Forever With Us" album 🌈

"I got to meet Bear when he was already 10 years old, he was already well known in the community of Air Ronge, as he was a wondering dog in his younger years. When we got together I knew that I had found a friend. The years went by quick and we had lots of fun adventures. Like going out to Banff and having lots of strangers take his picture saying they had seen a "Bear" in Banff.

Every year we would go out and have a long walk on the local ice road and he would get to run around and eat all the snow that he could. In the summer he enjoyed his walks in the woods, he was a true northern dog.

Some of my favorite moments with him came when we were just hanging out at home watching TV. When he would just come up and put his head on my leg and stare at me until I started to pet him; which never took long for me to do.

For a big dog he was very quiet, hardly ever bark, sometimes howl at the sirens in the distance. But with you gone the silence is very loud.

We will miss you everyday. Love you Bear."

The hardest part is to say "Goodbye". 🌈

"Not everyone liked Zeus, they LOVED him. Including the Saskatchewan Roughrider players! When he was 2 years old, we went to training camp to meet the players. We were lucky enough to make the Roughrider page as Chris Best and Xavier Fulton (offensive linemen) posed with us, one precious moment!

Zeus joined our family on May 12, 2015, at 11 months old. His previous family didn't want him and after one night at the SPCA, and I was lucky enough for him to choose me!! Right from the start, he never left my side, was so lovable yet protective, and my best friend over so many years.

Zeus always waited patiently for me to get home. We walked so many miles together, he learned bike rides early on and quickly. He ran beside me knowing words such as faster and slower.

Nobody got close to the house without him warning us. His bark, snarl and growl was enough to keep anyone from sticking their business where he was! We ordered Chinese food one time when Gramma and Grampa were visiting. Grampa said I wonder when they will get here. I said Zeus will let us know. Sure enough, the car pulled up in front of the house and the barking started when the food arrived without them getting out of the car let alone to the front door.

Zeus knew the value of family and was a best friend to all of us also. Grampa especially was afraid and intimidated by him until gramps learned to trust him a bit, then there was no going back. Gramps too loved to hug, pet him and even lay on the floor with him and give Zeus even more love. Zeus adored the kids, running and playing with them. He learned to love the cat too, stop eating his food and give him kisses instead.

Zeus knew English. He knew everyone's names. I would talk to him and no matter what I told him, he tilted his head as he listened to everything I said. He not only understood words, he knew how to spell them too.
I would spell out words so he wouldn't get too anxious before we were ready to go, such as car rides, bike rides, walks, farm, and lake. He was far too clever and I couldn't outsmart him often.

He loved going to the farm, cabin, and every car ride we could take him on. Just being with us was enough to make him happy and satisfied.

Four years ago, we brought a sister home for him. He loved having Nyx here and another dog he could play with and teach. Zeus had a couple good friends too along the way. Scout was one of his besties...so much playing, running and wrestling in the backyard. Two months before our Zeus left us, we brought home King. Zeus taught him respect and boundaries in their short time together, and loved laying with him on his bed by the door. Now that bed is King's alone.

Zeus loved making Mom jealous when Dad joined our family. He sat and cuddled with dad lots, especially when mom was around. Pitbulls love being lap dogs, and he lived up to that...by lots of loves and cuddling, sitting with us, getting many hugs and kisses every morning and night too. If Mom got busy and didn't give him lovins, Zeus would be sad and wimper until he got them. Zeus would sulk 3 times outside the bedroom door if we weren't ready for bed when he was.

When we went to Grammas house, Zeus couldn't leave Troy the bunny alone. His eyes locked in on him outside his cage and he couldn't get close enough. Zeus even tip toed up the stairs and across the laminate floor three times in 15 minutes just to go watch him intently. We couldn't believe he didn't make a sound going to where Troy was!

We knew our time on earth was drawing to a close as age and life caught up to you. It broke our hearts knowing this day was approaching.

We miss so much about Zeus's quirky loveable personality, but most of all we miss him so much. Three weeks have seemed like years. Nyx and King miss him too....every moment of the time we spent together is cherished. We will see each other again one day, just not soon enough. We love you forever Zeus. If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane, we would walk up to Heaven and bring you back again."

..That when we are dealing with disease, early detection is beneficial. Our top recommendation when it comes to the Canine Parvo Virus is .

Vaccinating puppies at approximately 8, 12, and 16 weeks provides them with the protection they need against CPV.

Adult dogs that have no previous vaccine history should receive an initial CPV vaccine and a booster 3-4 weeks later.

The virus is highly contagious, so our staff will provide you with direct instructions when coming to our clinics to prevent the virus from spreading!
