On Sunday our family lost a very important part of our tree. I was lucky enough to call her my mother in law, where others in my house called her mom, granny or nene (in the younger days when granny couldn't be pronounced and it stuck for a long time) too! Ann had a big heart and was always very welcoming to anyone who entered through their door. Hanging out at the kitchen table was a huge part of going to the Schmidt house, there were so many people who sat at their table. I hear many stories from people who talk about stopping by the Schmidt farm. Cooking (especially homemade bread) and canning were who she was, I often got told “ask mom how to do that”, she was a wealth of knowledge and I sure do regret not having more interest in that sort of thing before now. She loved to read, she always had a book on the go. She was always up for a visit from family, she was very proud of her whole family. She enjoyed going on to facebook and seeing everyone's photos, she liked following our Pet Hotel page too and seeing all the photos of the dogs. She was always supportive of our decisions, didn't always agree, but she did support. We as a family, would not be where we are without our parents for so many different reasons, and we are truly grateful. Korson gave her a book at Christmas, tell me about your life Grandma, and we learned a few more stories in the past few months which were fun to listen to. She was diagnosed with cancer the week before Easter, which we were grateful to spend some real quality time with her talking about things we may not have talked about. And this also meant she didn't have to suffer for very long. She was regretting her life decisions the one day that may have led to her diagnosis, but when she looked down on herself, I asked her “But did you have fun?”. She paused for a minute and a big grin came across her face and she said “We had the best time!! I think we had more fun than anyone!!!” The look on her face at that moment is something I will never forget.
We will miss her asking about the kids, sports, the farm, the kennel, the animals and life, but otherall we will just miss her! Rest now sweet angel, you have worked hard, we love you!

Our family has always enjoyed animals. Whether it be as small as a hamster or as large as a cow, our family has experienced many things. With our love of living on a farm and always enjoying our K9’s as part of our family, we decided to add to our farm with building a brand new facility to board and look after your beloved pets. We know it’s hard to leave your precious friends behind, but it gives piece of mind when you trust that they are being looked after and loved while you are away. We will do our best to provide your friends with the best.

You are more than welcome to contact us and we can set up a time to chat or do a tour of the facility.
