In 1941, the Royal Rifles of Canada Regiment was sent to Hong Kong to defend the land from an enemy invasion. The men didn’t want to leave Gander behind, so they gave him the rank of “Sergeant” and he boarded the troopship with his fellow soldiers!

One night in December 1941, Gander showed his true courage.

He was a smart dog—he knew what a gr***de was and how it could hurt people. That night, Gander saw a gr***de tossed near a group of wounded Canadian soldiers. He ran to it, took it, and rushed away with it. The gr***de exploded and Gander was killed. But he had saved the lives of the seven soldiers! Those men never forgot Sergeant Gander.

We have settled in to our new location at Magasin général La Pêche ! Come check out the set up! Pups are welcome💕🐾We are overflowing with gratitude towards Dave, Becki and their family, for giving us this opportunity. We are so excited to be part of this pack!

If you need any pet food, raw or kibble, toys or treats, it is all available at the Magasin. Our loyalty programs work the same here as they did in Wakefield.

We are still working out some kinks when it comes to our website and online ordering. Send us a message on Facebook if you need something and we can do our best to get it to you.

This is our last weekend at our Wakefield Location!

Barkleys will be going online and moving to the Magasin général La Pêche !

We will be opened with reduced hours this weekend
Friday 10:30am-5:30pm
Saturday 11am-4pm
Sunday 11am-4pm

We still have some great deals on clearance items.
