K7 Max
Let's start by saying, watching my video back, there's a lot that I know I could have done better on. This is a young pup, 8 months old, and at times I am putting a TON of pressure on him. In the moment I do not realize these things, but as I watch back I need to go back in the next time and do BETTER.
Now, for the praise of the pup! Max is pretty young, and despite the unnecessary pressure I put on him from time to time, he is doing amazing. He gets a little bored from time to time, but he keeps his interest on the stock, with a little bit of persuasion he goes back to stock happily. Another thing on my part is, I probably worked him a lot longer than I should have, for his young mind.
There is a point at about the 1:30 mark that he steps on the line I have on him and he eats dirt, he gets a little put off because of it, but by moving the stock and keeping his feet moving as well, he gets back to it!
At one point, a ewe breaks off from the group and I “ask" him to go back for it. I do not put words to this just yet, normally a look back, but I just add pressure to get him to turn and look at his ewe, to which he does an amazing job on going back and picking the ewe back up!
He is circling nicely, and other than being a little tight on one direction, which is normal for almost all dogs, he flips directions very nicely! I think Max is going to be a very nice dog!
After today, he will be put up and allowed to rest his young mind before I come back to the stock with him! Great job, Max boy!
