• Attach it to rock or driftwood (never bury the rhizome — it’ll rot!)
• Give it low to medium light — too much encourages algae
• Keep gentle flow and stable conditions for the best color
• CO₂ is optional, but helps with faster growth and deeper tones
• Be patient — Bucephalandra grows slowly but rewards you with mesmerizing color shifts of green, blue, and even pink under good lighting

We’re so excited — our April’s Aquatics order arrives tomorrow!

That means:
✨ All special orders will available tomorrow — I’ll reach out as soon as everything’s arrived and sorted.
🌿 Plants are coming in too, so it’s going to be a very busy aquatics day!

To give everyone a chance to settle in, our fish department will be closed for the day — no fish sales unless you have a special order.

Regular fish sales resume Wednesday!

Sandstorm, our bearded dragon, is enjoying her morning soak — and it’s more than just bath time. For reptiles, especially during shed, soaking plays an important role in hydration and overall wellbeing. 🎃🐾 Happy Halloween, everyone! 🐾🎃

Tonight’s the big night — costumes, candy, and lots of excitement in the air! But along with all the fun comes a few challenges for our furry (and scaly!) friends.

With kids running around in spooky costumes, doorbells ringing nonstop, and fireworks lighting up the sky — it can be really stressful for pets. As someone with a few pets who get anxious about fireworks, I totally understand how tough this night can be.

💥 So here’s a friendly reminder to please be mindful and respectful of your neighbours (and their animals) when celebrating tonight. Between Halloween festivities and the Toronto Blue Jays game (Go Jays Go!), fireworks are likely to continue through the evening — and that can be tough for many pets.

Here are a few quick safety tips for tonight:
🐶 Keep your pets indoors and in a quiet, safe space.
🐱 If your pets don’t usually wear collars, make sure they have one on tonight with up-to-date ID — just in case.
🐕 Close windows, draw curtains, and play calming music or white noise to help drown out the sounds.
🦴 Treats and chews can help distract nervous pups (we’ve got lots of options in-store if you need some!).

Let’s keep all our pets safe, calm, and cozy tonight — and let’s all be considerate of one another as a community.

Sassy, living up to her name!

This morning, our beloved cockatiel Sassy decided that bathing in a fish tank was the perfect way to start her day. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. 😅

The fish were not amused — you could almost hear them saying, “Excuse me, ma’am, this is for fish only!”

After realizing the fish tank wasn’t her ideal bath spot, Sassy got her proper pampering in our back sink with a nice warm bath. She loved every second of it — and is now happily perched under her heat light, drying off and looking a bit like a very content, drowned chicken.

She may be a little chaotic, but that’s exactly why we adore her. Full of attitude, personality, and heart — just the way we like it. 💕
