You see a lot of happy dog posts from us; wagging tails, relaxed faces and dogs who have become very familiar with the grooming process. Some genuinely enjoy their spa days, while others have simply learned, through regular positive experiences, that grooming is safe and something they can handle. ❤️

But that isn’t every dog.

A small percentage of the dogs who come through our doors need a very different kind of care. This sweet girl is a glimpse into what one of those appointments can look like.

She hasn’t had many grooming experiences, and the process is still very unfamiliar and overwhelming for her. She was stressed, uncomfortable and very clear that she would rather not be doing this.

That doesn’t make her a “bad dog,” and it doesn’t mean anyone has failed her. It simply means the goal of this groom needed to look different.

For dogs like her, success isn’t necessarily standing perfectly still or producing the prettiest haircut. Sometimes success is slowing down, staying calm, keeping everyone safe, accomplishing what we reasonably can, and trying not to add more fear to an already difficult experience.

Regular, positive exposure to grooming... especially beginning when dogs are young...can make an enormous difference in how comfortable they become with the process. But every dog starts somewhere.

So with this girl, my priority was to be patient, predictable and calm, and hopefully send her home having learned one small thing:

That even when grooming feels scary, the person holding the clippers can still be someone she can trust. ❤️🐾

They're back!

A little update for tomorrow ❤️

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected family medical emergency affecting one of our groomer's little boy, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close the shop tomorrow.

Without our scheduled groomer, we simply can’t safely or properly operate with our bathing team alone, and sometimes life throws things at us that have to come before work.

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience, especially to those whose appointments are affected. We’ll be reaching out to get everyone rescheduled as quickly as we can.

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness and understanding while we take care of our team and their family. ❤️🐾
