🐥 Adopt a Chick Program 🐥

Today Sidney went down to Viking to visit Mrs.O and the grade 1 class!

We came up with the Adopt a Chick Program to give students in school a first look at what it takes to look after a chick and teach kids about agriculture!

We are using the chicks we got for our own farm as the chicks in the program! Each week we will send Mrs.O a picture of the chicks the students chose to adopt, so they can watch them grow!

We would like to thank Mrs.O, Viking School and the Grade 1 class for allowing us to come in and share this program! This is the first year and first class we have offered the program!

We hope the kids enjoyed the presentation today and enjoy watching their chicks grow!

✨ What is a PID Number? ✨

A few questions we often get asked regarding PID Numbers are:
- What is that?
- Why do I need that number?
- Can’t I still buy this item without it?
- How do I get a number?

So we are here to make a post about a commonly brought up topic! All information is from the Government of Alberta website!

Premises Identification (PID) one of the pillars of traceability, links livestock and poultry to land locations or premises.
Alberta’s Premises Identification Program was established to plan for, control and prevent the spread of animal diseases. Regulations requiring premises identification became law January 1, 2009 as part of the Animal Health Act.

The PID program is also used as an early warning system to notify animal owners of a natural disaster such as a flood or wildfire that could affect their animals.

Under provincial law, PID Account numbers are required for:

- Medication purchases at licensed retail outlets, as part of 2014 amendments to the Animal Health Act
- Animal movement documents such as transportation manifests or permits, if required
- Selling livestock at auction markets
- Applying for government programs and grants (where applicable)

SR Feed & Farm Supply is registered with the Government of Alberta and we have an Outlet License, this can be seen in our line of certificates at the store! We can get surprise audits at anytime, so we legally cannot sell you a product without your PID on file or our licensing will be pulled!

PID numbers are required for anyone purchasing an item with a DIN (Drug Identification Number)!

Examples of products with this number is:
- Horse Dewormer
- Iodine Spray
- Dexamethasone Powder
- Bloat Eze
- Virkon
- Ivermectin
- Selon-E Injectable
