Celtic Farm

Celtic Farm Celtic Farms is a project to save 3 acres of farmland in Vancouver from residential development wit Who are we? We are passionate advocates and activists.

We share a dream and a drive. A dream of preserving a little patch of ALR land in Vancouver. And a drive to turn it into a mixed, working farm and educational centre. Do you share our vision?

PROJECT ABSTRACT:
The Friends of Southlands Society (FOSS) is a non-profit organization with the mandate of preserving the rural, agricultural nature of Southlands. In Southlands, at 3200 Celtic Avenue, the City of Vancouver owns 3 acres of land in the ALR. This document is a proposal from FOSS to assist the City of Vancouver to develop this land in agreement with the Southlands Plan and RA-1 Zoning, to help the City of Vancouver to meet objectives set out in the Greenest City Action Plan, and to provide the City with income from this unutilized land. The long range vision for this land, “Celtic Farms”, is to create a self-sustaining, mixed, working farm following agroecological principals with a mandate of public involvement and education.

We met with City Councilor Andrea Reimer at City Hall last week. Nothing but positivity and support for the idea from her! On the bureaucratic side of things, our next step is to seek support from the Real Estate Department at City Hall.

Our next step is to create a detailed vision for the City. This will include a visually appealing farm plan. DO you know...

Our next step is to create a detailed vision for the City. This will include a visually appealing farm plan. DO you know anyone with architectural rendering or landscape design drawing skill that would be willing to work on this project?

We need someone to start looking for grant opportunities! Any body willing to put in some time for this project?
