LAST OF THE SEASON! (Probably.) Dropping these beauties at Figaro’s Garden this morning. It’s been a stellar fall for flower production and we’ve been able to make bouquets much longer than in past years. Thank you all who have supported us this year - either by purchasing a bouquet or blooms, attending a workshop, telling your friends about us, or through the ever-crucial emotional support! We love you 😘 Stay tuned for fall and spring workshops 🌱🌷

It’s been a slow start but the blooms are finally pumping out. These Madame Butterfly Bronze snapdragons smell just heavenly and make me so happy. We paired them chocolate dara and the dark foliage of ninebark and smoke bush for dramatic effect in this week’s bouquets for

Announcing our first workshop of 2022: soil blocking!

We fell in love with soil blocks last year as a way to start an abundance of seeds in a tiny space. 🌱

Soil blocks offer many advantages aside from space savviness: they also eliminate the need for plastic and peat pots, and encourage healthier plants. 💚

Come learn with us and discover how you can fit a big garden into a small space. (You just need a 3x4’ space or equivalent in containers.) 🪴

We’ll show you all the basics of seed starting with soil blocks, from creating the right soil mix so that your babies can thrive to germination requirements and tips/tricks on how to best to use this method.

Join us and start 20 plants to take home and enjoy in your garden this season. 🎉

We’ll also have a number of specialty cut flower starts for purchase. 🌸

Details:

Dates: Sunday, April 3 from 11 am - 12 pm and Sunday, April 10 from 11 am - 12 pm 🗓

Location: near Knight Street and King Edward Avenue, Vancouver. 🧭

What’s included: A hands-on lesson on soil blocking and seed starting, plus 20 soil blocks to sow with your choice of seeds (flowers, herbs, and/or veggies - we have lots to choose from!) and take home. Plus, instructions on how to replicate the effects of blocking - without the soil blocker! 🌱🌱🌱

Cost: $75 per person or $125 for you and a friend 🙍‍♀️🙍‍♀️

I once described zinnias as “pedestrian.” I saw them as stiff and garish (we had a bright salmon variety dominating the patch that year). Since then, we’ve refined the varieties we grow, and I’ve learned to like them for their reliability, long vase life, and abundance. What about you? Are there any flower varieties that have grown on you? (Flower pun intended - heh heh)
