Guide to which brush to use on your dog:
1. Slicker brush:
These brushes are excellent for removing mats and tangles. If your dog has a medium to long coat, or a curly coat prone to knotting, a slicker brush can be very beneficial. Slicker brushes are used on many dog breeds, including: poodles, shih Tzu, Maltese. It is the best and most useful brush for a thorough brush. Our groomers highly recommend!
2. Rakes:
Undercoat rakes are designed to pe*****te thick coats and remove loose undercoat hair without damaging the top coat. They typically have longer, widely spaced dull teeth. Breeds such as Huskies and German Shepherds with dense undercoats benefit greatly from regular grooming with an undercoat rake, especially during shedding season.
3. Pin brush:
Looks like a common human brush with its oval shape and long handle, but often the least useful. They will pick up loose hair before it is shed onto your furniture, or finish and fluff a well-brushed coat, but provide little benefit to your pet. They are best used to finish off the grooming process, or a great way to introduce brushing to a puppy that's sensitive to brushing.
4. Bristle brush:
Bristle brushes are used on short-haired, smooth-coated dogs that shed frequently. Their clusters of tightly-packed natural bristles will remove loose hair and stimulate the skin. Bristle brushes can be used on breeds such as Pugs, Italian Greyhounds, Jack Russell Terriers, and Boston Terriers.
