Drumroll please... our first in-person Holochain networking event since 2020 is here!

Are you interested in decentralized web technology? Have you heard of Holochain and are hungry for more? Are you actively engaged in Holochain-related projects, or want to be? Come connect!

- What’s happening? -

A casual gathering to chat all things holochain and dweb (decentralized web). We'll have tea and treats, and a bar provided by the venue!

- When? -

Tuesday, November 15 from 6-8pm

- Where? -

This event is held in epic venue The Permanent in downtown Vancouver, BC, home to the Internet Archive Canadian headquarters, at 330 Pender Street.

- Why? -

Even with how common and lovely online networking is getting to be, still, in-person connection is our favourite way to foster community. This event marks us picking back up the baton to cultivate a thriving regional network of folks working on a more resilient internet.

- How? -

Help us plan numbers! Register on eventbrite at tinyurl.com/holochaintea — link is in our bio too.

— Accessibility notes —

This is an in-person event. There is street-level access to the venue at 330 Pender St in Vancouver, BC. This event takes place over two levels with stairs.

There is street parking in the area.

There will be gluten free and vegan snack options. Non-alcoholic drinks and water will be available, and alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase courtesy of the venue.

Come network and learn a few things in the decentralized & distributed web scene while enjoying tea, treats and a bar!

Planting a magical garden in our minds

Seeding regenerative culture between two rainforests

"From a small-town café in Ecuador’s Pastaza province, our friend and teacher Flavio Santi patiently waits for a connection to reach our circle through Zoom. On this Saturday in July, he has travelled from his family’s home—the Amazanga community in the Amazon rainforest—to be with us onscreen and in spirit, as he has for many weekends now... "

Currencies as a Catalyst for Cultural Evolution (Part 2): Reimagining Currency in the Information Economy

"Through observing nature, it’s clear that all living systems are made up of numerous interrelated flows & processes; fundamentally, flows of energy, materials, and information, but in more abstract social contexts these can also be flows of reputation, trust, value, goods, services, knowledge, and so on. For any living system to remain adaptable, robust and healthy in constantly changing environments it must maintain the integrity of all of the flows it is made up of."

We are currently using the legacy social media platforms by default until such time as we can migrate to more fair and distributed social media Apps built on holochain.

How a unified theory of currency can unlock deeper flows of value in our social systems as we transform our economies.

Yesterday evening our friends and neighbours gifted us an evening of music at the coFood Vancouver Collaborative Garden.

During times when heat waves and forest fires are reminding us daily of the climate crisis, many people came together to make this gathering possible. Along with cooler weather and a pause from much-needed rain, the music lifted our spirits, showing us what can happen when people converge with good intentions.

Our thanks to ds prowse for his music and tech skills, Marina Hasselberg on cello, Tree Shepherds with guest Josie Francis, our volunteers, and of course our audience... for journeying with us to create a regenerative moment in time.
