Big and Small Rescue Society We are a Vancouver-based registered non-profit society dedicated to re-homing dogs These dogs are sad, sick, often starving, and many are badly abused.

We rescue dogs locally, from Northern Canadian reservations and dogs about to be euthanized in high-kill shelters in California. These shelters destroy 87% of their intake or nearly 1000 loving dogs a month. We are not changing the world with our small rescue efforts, but to quote a popular saying in rescue, 'we are surely changing the world for that one dog'. We take these dogs in to foster homes

where they are lovingly restored to health. We find them kind and caring homes and make them the promise to love them forever. It's a labour of love; it's our small effort to live up to their incredible friendship. Although we appreciate the many caring foster and adoption applications for our dogs, it is our mandate to fit the family to the dog's needs, not vice versa. As such, not all applicants may be considered suitable for our rescue dogs.

FOSTER NEEDED - MEET DUCHESS - This beautiful 10 month old girls looks Anatolian mix to us. She weighs 50lbs. We have rescued this breed mix before and we are TOTALLY IN LOVE. They are like molten caramel. This breed mix is very gentle and mellow. Duchess is kennelled with plenty of other dogs and is doing really well. She is easy to handle. We think she'd fit into most households. At a kill shelter, she is not yet tested with kids or cats. We expect her to be loving with everyone. Fosters must be in the Lower Mainland to access our designated vets.

FOSTER NEEDED - MEET TINKER - This cute- as-a-bug miniature poodle is a senior at 8+ years. He weighs only 15 lbs. Tinker is stuck in a kill shelter. He is needing out. He is at risk because he is an older dog. Tinker is kennelled with other dogs and does really well. He is easy to handle. We think Tinker is going to be a fabulous lapdog. He is going to enjoy his neighbourly strolls . We suspect because of his age he will be low energy. He is not yet tested with kids or cats. SHORT-TERM FOSTER WEEKEND June 27-June 30. MEET TRIPP. This gorgeous 3-4 years old St Bernard-Pyrenee and maybe some lab. Tripp is cuddly. He is very sweet and super dedicated to her handler. Tripp is timid and quite shy. He needs a quiet and calm home. We think because of his shyness we would love a home without kids, cats or dogs - just for now. He has been through a lot and he deserves some time to build his confidence and decompress.

ADOPTERS NEEDED - MEET WH**EY and BERRY. We have 2 beautiful 10-12 week old Malinois Belgian - German Shepherd pups x (best guess). These little girls are super smart. And very cuddly too. They are doing all their business outside - already! They LOVE other dogs and are very respectful. They make great eye contact. They really want to connect and understand their human handlers. We think they will be middling to high energy and very trainable. Look at these adorable faces. We would love to see them with people who understand shepherd mixes. They are going to love going for hikes, long walks and swimming. They will want to learn to retrieve and understand many different commands. Above all , these are really sweet and loving puppies. At this age they should integrate into any household - kids, cats and other.

ADOPTERS NEEDED - MEET WH**EY and BERRY. We have 2 beautiful 10-12 week old Malinois Belgian Shepherd pups x (well they look Malinois to us, but who knows). These little girls are super intelligent. And very cuddly too. They are doing all their business outside - already! They love the other older dogs that they are being fostered with and listen really well to them. They make great eye contact. They really want to connect and understand their human handlers. We think they will be middling to high energy and very trainable. Look at these adorable faces. ADOPTED BY WONDERFUL PEOPLE - MEET DUTTON. This darling little nugget is 10-11 months old. He weighs just 12 lbs. He look like a Border Terrier-Cairn Terrier and who knows, a drop of chihuahua?. He is such a little dolll. Dutton is a love bug. He melts in your arms when you hold him. He just wants to be near his people all the time. He is house trained, walks well on a leash. He lives with children and does really well. He likes other small dogs. He is curious about cats but has not given chase. He is a little timid around big dogs and may tell them to go away. Dutton is still a baby. He still needs training. His confidence will grow in time. Right now, he's on the shy-side and worries when he loses sight of his human. If you want a little baby shadow who will adore you, then Dutton may be your boy.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET PRIMMY- What a beautiful little girl. Primmy is perhaps 1-2 year old. She weighs 13lbs. We see Sh*tzu and possibly Lhasa Also in her. Primmy is a sweet and loving dog. At home, she is happy and quiet, just staying with her human. She is potty trained. She walks well on leash. She stays calm when she sees dogs and strangers. She gets along well with other dogs, but she loves humans more! She'd be great with anybody that has time for her, as she has some separation anxiety. She would do great in a family with another dog. She is not tested with kids yet; or cats yet. But she is so easygoing, we think she'd adapt well.

FOSTER FOUND - MEET SWEET ANNA - This 8 month old baby girl looks little very uncertain about life. And she is right! Kill shelters are no fun. She is 8 months and only 28 lbs. We want to caller her a Doberman mix but she's so small. Any guesses? She is a sweet young baby. She gets along with dogs (kennelled with many dogs). She is easy to handle by the shelter staff. She is not tested with kids or cats, but we think she'd fit into most households as she is just a baby girl. Let's find Anna a warm lap.

FOSTER NEEDED - MEET CHIA - This BEAUTIFUL fluffy girl is a bit of a 'pocket' huksy mix. She weighs only 35 lbs and is just 2 years old. CHIA has been at the kill shelter since April. Eek. As with TRIPP, these larger breeds do not get out. Over 30% are euthanized because no one wants them. The shelter says Chia is eligible for adoption (which means she's a good girl). She is kennelled with other dogs, does well in canine play groups. She is social with staff. C'mon peeps, let's give this pup a chance. Poor girl. We think CHIA deserves to break out of jail and enjoy a new life. She is not tested yet with cats or kids; it's a shelter environment. We really hope there is someone out there who sees CHIA'S twinkling face and wants to help her. If you do, please email [email protected]. FOSTER FOUND - THANK YOU - MEET TRIPP This lovely guy is stuck in a kill shelter where few large breed dogs make it out alive. He is considered a very adoptable dog bu the shelter. He is about 3-4 years old. He weighs 72 lbs. The shelter considers him friendly with people and dogs. No negative behavioural notes. We think he is gorgeous. We know it is a big ask, but we would love to rescue him and give him a second chance - but we need a foster. The shelter has called him a Retriever-Boxer mix. But who knows. Obviously he is not tested with cats or kids yet. Does anyone what to help us save TRIPP? If so please email [email protected]
