Big and Small Rescue Society We are a Vancouver-based registered non-profit society dedicated to re-homing dogs These dogs are sad, sick, often starving, and many are badly abused.

We rescue dogs locally, from Northern Canadian reservations and dogs about to be euthanized in high-kill shelters in California. These shelters destroy 87% of their intake or nearly 1000 loving dogs a month. We are not changing the world with our small rescue efforts, but to quote a popular saying in rescue, 'we are surely changing the world for that one dog'. We take these dogs in to foster homes

where they are lovingly restored to health. We find them kind and caring homes and make them the promise to love them forever. It's a labour of love; it's our small effort to live up to their incredible friendship. Although we appreciate the many caring foster and adoption applications for our dogs, it is our mandate to fit the family to the dog's needs, not vice versa. As such, not all applicants may be considered suitable for our rescue dogs.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET BOB MARLEY - Can you believe this little guy's transformation? He is 1-2 years old . He weighs 17lbs with his crazy hairdo... We think Bob is a Schnoodle. He is a very sweet and chilled dude. He loves his walks. He is very much a terrier in personality. He can be feisty and then he melts with a tail wag. He is a lap dog. He loves to snuggle and cuddle. His foster works while this little nugget rests quietly in her office. He's got that Board Room kinda compatibility. lol. He lives with foster dogs and does OK. Not tested with cats yet. We think older kids would be better for him.

TRIPP LOVES BALL TIME - ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET HANDSOME TRIPP - this beautiful freckle-faced mountain breed mix is four years old and weighs about 74 lbs. There is a whole lot of love to throw your arms around. He LOVES a good hug. TRIPP is neutered. TRIPP absolutely ADORES his people. He wants to go for long walks and frolic around in the woods. He does playful zoomies. Tripp is an outdoor boy for sure but can couch potato too! This guy will help you binge on Netflix when the next Atmospheric Storm blows in. Tripp is making new friends wherever he goes. - see photos below. He likes a chill home. We think someone who is active and wants to explore our beautiful BC, would suit him to the ground. He's not tested with cats. He's living without any other dogs but enjoys a good frolic with dogs in the dog park. Tripp deserved the BEST home ever. He spent 3 months struggling at a shelter with no interest. Poor dude.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET BODHI. What an angel. This 12 week old nugget has the most gorgeous gentle mother who is a collie mix (photo attached below). She is a 48 lbs; daddy is unknown. Bodhi is an active and intelligent puppy. He is gentle. He is responsive and attentive. He would do wonders at agility. He has a shyness to him as well. He does love a good wrangle with other dogs but they must be tolerant of his play. We think this guy is going to make someone a very happy companion animal. He deserves an active human so he can run and explore our beautiful outdoors. He should fit into most household with kids and cats, but parents of younger children must have time for him and the patience to integrate a puppy into their lives.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET HOPS - Oh My word. Another cute crazy-looking terrier puppy. HOPS and MURRAY are not related, but wow! There are some serious similarities. Hops is 6-8 months old - best guess. He looks like an Airedale had a fling with a lab or a collie. Hops will be a taller puppy than Murray. He is leggy. Hops weighs 30 lbs and he is still growing. Hops LOVES other dogs. We think he'd be good with kids though he is not tested yet. We even think he'd be OK with cats. He is a baby and a very easy going dog. He has energy but also loves to chill. This is going to make someone a wonderful dog with a mixture of outdoor activity but a mellow disposition that knows how to relax. FOSTER FOUND - Thank you.T - MEET LOVELEE - This a stunning family dog. She is about 10 months old and weighs 50 lbs. We see Border Collie, maybe some Flatcoat Retriever . Lovelee is lovely. She is gentle and sweet. She is fostered with 3 young children (see photo below) and loves being hugged. She is is still young and is learning commands and how to walk on a leash. She has energy and loves to go for walks, hikes and play sessions. She is fostered without a dog but she LOVES other dogs and gets very excited when she sees them. We think she'd be a great second dog for someone. Not tested with cats yet.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET MURRAY - What have we here? We are not sure if Murray might be part kangaroo. The word on the street is that Murray is maybe a Standard Irish Wolf mixed with a Schnauzer. Those ears. LOL. Murray is a sweet and smart puppy. He is 7-8 months old (best guess). He weighs 25 lbs at the moment. Murray is a friendly guy. He loves kids and every dog he has ever met. He enjoys belly scritches, neighbourhood walks. He is potty trained. He has stout little legs. We just cannot find the words for his cuteness. He is one of a kind. He is not tested with cats yet.

ADOPTED BY WONDERFUL PEOPLE - MEET CORKY - This is a beautiful girl with some serious eye makeup. We have been struggling to figure out her breed - could she be a Shepherd-Shiba Inu ? Or a rare Carolina Dog? So hard to say. Our fosters see Scooby-Doo and they have started to call her Ruby Doo. Corky is about 4 months old. She weighs 11 lbs of pure honey. She loves to curl up next tp her human. She is a bed-snuggler too. She LOVES her people. She gets along so well with kids and other dogs. and even cats. She's a perfect family addition. She still needs training and is learning to walk on a leash and to sit. Such a smart girl. Corky is beautiful kind puppy and she is going to be a wonderful adult dog. Let's get her into he most deserving home.

ADOPTED BY WONDERFUL PEOPLE - Meet BEAUTIFUL ELA - this gorgeous 9-10 week old baby girl has a Doberman parent. She weighs 9.4 lbs. She is fully vetted with her first vaccines, dewormer and microchip. ELA is a very sweet and gentle puppy. She has 4 other sisters which we will be posting as well. We are happy we have had the opportunity to rescue these 'skinny' girls and fatten them up with love and good food. We believe these dogs will make excellent family pets and companions. Hey Rescue Peeps, we are here again, cap-in-hand. We need help. Duchess is an 11 month old rescue baby that entered our Society almost 2 months ago. She was limping. We discovered she has a shredded piece of cartilage in her shoulder. It a condition called Osteochondritis. We need to get it removed or it will seriously impede this deserving girl's mobility. The surgery costs $3,362.73. Please donate. Help us help her. Running a rescue is impossibly difficult because we never truly know the condition of dog when we offer to rescue.
