Big and Small Rescue Society We are a Vancouver-based registered non-profit society dedicated to re-homing dogs These dogs are sad, sick, often starving, and many are badly abused.

We rescue dogs locally, from Northern Canadian reservations and dogs about to be euthanized in high-kill shelters in California. These shelters destroy 87% of their intake or nearly 1000 loving dogs a month. We are not changing the world with our small rescue efforts, but to quote a popular saying in rescue, 'we are surely changing the world for that one dog'. We take these dogs in to foster homes

where they are lovingly restored to health. We find them kind and caring homes and make them the promise to love them forever. It's a labour of love; it's our small effort to live up to their incredible friendship. Although we appreciate the many caring foster and adoption applications for our dogs, it is our mandate to fit the family to the dog's needs, not vice versa. As such, not all applicants may be considered suitable for our rescue dogs.

Is there anyone who can help us by fostering 4 husky puppies and momma? Mom is super gentle. The society will make sure these puppies are well taken care of, vetted and find loving homes for them. ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET SOLLY (white pup on the left) - We cannot believe this little sausage has not been scooped up yet! Oh dear Lord. Solly is a 1 year old little scruff. We see Havanese, Maltese and some Terrier too. He weighs a teeny 8-9 lbs. Solly is super sweet. He is shy. He is young and is learning his world. SOLLY LOVES DOGS. He has never met a dog he did not totally LOVE. He prefers his quieter humans (don't we all) - so maybe no young kids for now. He has been fostered with some cats and he did just fine. We think he would learn so much from a calm older dog. We would love to see this little dude with someone who has patience for his shyness. Someone to help him with leashed walks; and a loving human who can give Solly a beautiful life. Solly is being so well treated and beloved by the team at Pathfinder Dog Ranch. They would love to continue to help support any adopter of Solly. We think that's pretty nice of them ❤ Solly is in the GVRD.

Hey Rescue Peeps, we are here again, cap-in-hand. We need help. Duchess is an 11 month old rescue baby that entered our Society almost 2 months ago. She was limping. We discovered she has a shredded piece of cartilage in her shoulder. It a condition called Osteochondritis. We need to get it removed or it will seriously impede this deserving girl's mobility. The surgery costs $3,362.73. Please donate. Help us help her. Running a rescue is impossibly difficult because we never truly know the condition of dog when we offer to rescue. FOSTER (-to-ADOPT) - MEET JUNIPER - This beautiful 2 year old girls weighs a tiny 35lbs. We see Siberian Husky and also some shepherd in those ears. She is spayed. Juniper is super with dogs and people. She is a very friendly girl. She came in the the NWT SPCA emaciated. She is looking great today but definitely likes to hog her food bowl. Who can blame her? This girls is equal to any adventure you put inform of her. She will run hike swim dig; you name it, she is your girl. She is such a lovely size for city life. She is not tested with cats. She is great with people but we think her enthusiasm may knock young children down. Older kids would be OK. Foster must be in the GVRD; adopters can be anywhere in BC.
We are wanting to help the crowded shelters in remote areas, such as the SPCA in NWT. Please help us by finding fosters for these lovely canine souls.

FOSTER (to-ADOPT) NEEDED - Meet BUGABOO - Also fondly known as Bug. Bug has such beautiful and regal face. She is a shepherd mix from the NWT. She is 6 years old, spayed, and weighs 65 lbs. Bug is intelligent and kind. She is a cuddle "bug" and a lover with her people. Bug was left tied to a tree where stray dogs would attack her. Poor thing. Thankfully, she was rescued by the SPCA in NWT. Bug loves respectful dogs (see video below). She is a regal lady and she is ALL about canine manners. Bug is potty trained and walks well on a leash. This lady is going to make a wonderful companion for those of you who love and understand shepherds. We think no kids or cats for now.
All foster will need to be in the GVRD. Adopters can be anywhere in BC.
We would like to take pressure off of some of these struggling remote shelters. Please support us by finding homes for these beautiful dogs in need in our beautiful BC.

ADOPTED BY WONDERFUL PEOPLE - MEET BUDDY - It's all in the name! Our beautiful Buddy will make someone the best buddy every. He is 10 months old and weighs 9 lbs. Buddy is a snuggler and a lover. He is the sweetest boy. We see chihuahua but he has long legs. Maybe a spot of Rat Terrier or some Italian Greyhound? Hard to say. He is all about dreamy eyes and loving on his person. Buddy adores other dogs. His foster sister, also a chihuahua, is his best friend. He is quite brave on his walks. He is learning commands and can sit. Buddy is a gentle dog. Though not tested with kids, we think he do well with children. Not tested with cats yet. This lover-boy deserves to find his best furever home. Buddy is in the GVRD.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET MAJOR - Be still my beating heart. Our very handsome Yorkshire Terrier is 1 year old. He is super smart, very funny - a real ham - and weighs just 14 lbs. Major loves everyone and all dogs. He is young and a little on the timid side so he needs his people to show him the ropes. He is a HUGE snuggle bunny. He is a gentle boy. He has not been tested with kids but with proper oversight we thin this could be a good match. He is not tested with cats. Major can walk well on a leash too. We think this little boy is equal to anything. We wold love to see him in a home that has time for him. He'd love a canine sibling. We think he is ready to explore our great outdoors, too. Major is in the GVRD.

TRANSPORTER FOUND - THANK YOU - Little Sol needs to get to the vets.The little fellow on the left is called SOL. He is looking for his furever home. And we will post him shortly. We do need to get him to our vets for his neuter. His current fosters run a daycare and are SUPER busy. ADOPTER NEEDED - Meet our beautiful girl COLETTE - Colette is a miniature poodle crossed with a terrier. We see some Schnauzer in her. Our pretty and super sweet girl is 8-10 years old. She weighs 15 lbs. She is a lover. She will follow you around. She just wants to be with her person. She LOVES human snacks. She enjoys walks and sniffing and just being present. We could take a page from Colette's philosophy to life. She is living with cats. She does OK but every now and then the terrier in her gets quite excited. She is a LOW- gear girl. If you are seeking some cruise-control canine companionship, our sweetie-pie Colette may be your girl. She is good with dogs. OK with kids but we think she may prefer quieter older children. Colette is getting a dental this weekend. Woohooh. She appears healthy. She is ready to find her furever home.

ADOPTED BY VERY NICE PEOPLE - MEET BOWIE - Oh dear Lord! Is this a BUNNY? Or a KANGAROO? Bowie is insanely cute. He is such a hugger and a kisser. He is about 6-7 months old and weighs 40lbs. Bowie has terrier; maybe some German Shepherd. We see some Lab in him too. Whatever he is, this is a one-of-a-kind dude. We just love this guy. He is a baby and should fit into most households. He is still learning the ropes. He will need continued training, like most pups. Bowie is smart and wants to please. He adores other dogs. He loves the company of people. He is fostered with a child and is doing great. He can chill at home but he is also going be a wonderful adventurer. We would love to see him with someone who enjoys the outdoors.
