Talk about perfect timing! This is very interesting to us. This is an ultrasound image of a mare being checked for breeding. When we saw this follicle it looked about as close as you can get to an ovulating follicle. We bred this mare. Checked her a few hours later and sure enough the follicle had ovulated. Side note it was definitely too late to call for chilled semen, so we turned to our emergency tank of carefully selected frozen swimmers. Careful timing and pre planning are important in equine reproduction. But when Mother Nature speeds things up thank goodness for frozen and meticulous monitoring by our vet. We will see you in 14 days for your pregnancy scan! Fingers crossed for a little black dot!
