The Austin Nash working cowhorse clinic has been an informative and fun weekend so far! Good people with a passion for building handy horses, working cows and learning is always a great combination.

Have a good day folks. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Austin Nash clinic starts tonight at 6PM. We live SE of Valleyview 25 minutes (give or take 10 minutes) in the Sweathouse area. Below I will post the gate number as I will be out of service most of the day and therefore difficult to contact for directions. Hopefully putting this number in your GPS will bring you right here. See y'all later! Should be a fun weekend. ๐Ÿ˜Š

When I bought this big sorrel horse, he couldn't stand still to save his soul. Yesterday I was riding fence lines on him, hanging off his side pounding staples and tightening wires.

It's not running a chainsaw I guess, or burning guard hairs off with a blow torch. And God knows I didn't have a photographer following me to get it all on video and post it in slow mo (๐Ÿ˜‚)...which seems common these days. But he sure felt like a solid partner while I went about earning a day rider's wage with the reins draped over his neck.

Have a good day folks. ๐Ÿ˜Š

So yesterday I turned Grover loose in the arena to wander around with the saddle on while I busied myself with other things. I forgot I had the back door open. Silly me.

Of course, he was drawn to that portal leading to the mysterious 'land behind the arena.'

Next thing I know, I see a buckskin horse stuck in the turn back alley. Just standing there, facing east. Every now and again he'd look back over his shoulder as if to say; "Could someone please help me? I'm stuck. I can't turn around."

Yup. Poor Grover couldn't help himself. He'd felt compelled to go through that back door as if he were entering Narnia, only to find himself standing in steer s**t and bad decisions. ๐Ÿคท

This should be an excellent weekend of learning, horsemanship, working the flag and playing with cows. Plenty of room for camping. Limited pens available.

Richard laid this platform down in the pasture meaning to come back and pick it up once he found a permanent spot to set it. He was simply moving it from one place to the next. But it works on us c**t starters like a box attracts cats; we are always standing around on it soaking up the vibes. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿ˜‚

Have a good day folks.

I picked my Dad up at the Lodge yesterday and took him for a picnic and a "fun day of fencing" on the lease! (Not sure when I got to the age that I refer to fencing as fun. ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคท But here I am.) Anyway, it was a good and productive way to spend a Sunday and Dad enjoyed the sunshine and the scenery.

Of course, being both opportunistic and predatory by nature, the canines chose to mug the old guy over me (the provider who scolds them about manners) at lunchtime, for all they could get out of him. I told them they were shameful. They practically shrugged and said, "Shush... we're working."

Gecko taught Ting all she knows about strong eye contact following every forkful creating mind-melding thought control, and allowing just the tiniest touch of drool to form at the corners of one's mouth. All great techniques for getting humans to do what dogs want.

Just a pair of displaced panhandlers!

Have a good day folks. ๐Ÿ˜Š
