🐾 It’s National Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾
This week, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the incredible work our (camera shy) veterinary technicians do every single day — and we’re especially lucky to have an amazing team.

🧡 Sara and Michelle, your dedication, knowledge, and compassion make a difference in every patient’s life — and in all of ours, too. Whether you’re monitoring anesthesia during surgery, running diagnostics, calming nervous pets (and their humans), or keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, you do it all with professionalism, patience, and heart.

You both go above and beyond — staying late when needed, catching the smallest details, remembering patient quirks, and showing up day after day with compassion and strength. Your love for animals shines through in everything you do, and we’re beyond grateful to have you as the core of our team.

And while you may not see Janis as often, when you do, you’ll notice her calm presence, deep experience, and the gentle care she brings to every patient and interaction. Her support is always appreciated by staff, clients, and our furry friends alike.

Please note our adjusted hours for the Thanksgiving long weekend:

Saturday, October 11th
🕘 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Retail Sales Only – No appointments or medical services)

Sunday, October 12th – CLOSED
Monday, October 13th – CLOSED

We’ll resume regular hours on Tuesday, October 14th from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

This curious pup, Milo, decided to do a little “snacking” on his walk — and unfortunately picked up some raisins along the trail. 🍇😬

Raisins (and grapes) are toxic to dogs and can cause serious kidney damage, even in small amounts. Thankfully, Milo’s quick-thinking owners brought him straight in to see us so we could induce vomiting and get those raisins out of his system right away. 👏

He’s feeling much better now — though judging by his face, we think he definitely has some regrets about his trail treat choices! 🐶💚

👉 If your pet ever eats something potentially dangerous, don’t wait — call your vet or an emergency clinic immediately. Acting fast, just like Milo’s family did, can make all the difference!

**Update: Our staff and patients are safe and still on site at the hospital. Many roads in the area are closed which has significantly affected traffic out of and into our hospital. It seems the fire is now working away from the direction of the hospital and traffic seems to be clearing. We will remain closed to outpatients until travel in the area is safe. We will post an update of our opening at that time. Until then we will only be caring for our hospitalized patients.

Thank you to all those who are sending kind words. And a massive thank you to all the first responders and pilots out there still working to control this.

ATTENTION!

Due to a wildfire in our area Coastal Care is temporarily shutting down outpatient services. We are NOT accepting patients until the wildfire is contained or moves away from our area. We will keep everyone updated as things develop.

We are currently maintaining in-patients at the hospital but have evacuation protocols and precautions in place should we need to. Our staff and patients are priority.

We want to inform our clients that TEMPORAILY we currently do not have a veterinarian in the building on Fridays. While we remain OPEN from 8 AM – 6 PM for food sales and prescription pickups, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

🚫 No Doctor on Fridays means:
We cannot fill controlled medications (e.g., Hydrocodone, Phenobarbital)
We cannot refill any prescriptions that require a doctor’s approval (i.e., no remaining refills)
✅ Please plan ahead to ensure your pet doesn’t miss a dose!

📆 Heads-up for next week:
There will also be NO VETERINARIAN on August 14th & 15th (Thursday & Friday).
If your pet is on controlled medications or needs a refill, we strongly recommend:
🔹 Checking your current supply
🔹 Calling in refills EARLY

Your pet’s health is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate temporary scheduling changes.
