Here is co-founder Rob Miller giving his inspirational and educational talk on donkeys to some of the international students that came to visit from Thompson Rivers University. It was a rainy day at the refuge, but that didn't deter the two bus loads of students. Sarah was also a big hit with everyone.

Get ready for Hay Day at the Refuge and join us for our biggest, hay-filled celebration of the year!

📌Join Us for Hay Day!
📅Sunday, August 17, 2025
🕚11am - 3pm
📍 Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge - 7877 Skimikin Rd, Chase, BC
Admission by Donation ~ all proceeds to the Hay Fund!

This fun, family-friendly event is admission by donation, with every dollar going straight to our Buy-a-Bale Hay Fund – helping us cover the cost of the 4,300+ bales of hay needed to feed our beloved donkeys and mules each year.

The Armstrong Lions Club will be on-site with their food truck, grilling up delicious burgers and more. The best part is that every penny from food sales will also be donated to the Donkeys’ Hay Fund!

We’ve got tons of activities for all ages – from crafting your own donkey ear headbands, blowing bubbles, hula hooping, playing games and puzzles, and so much more.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Trouw Nutrition/Hi-Pro Feeds, who generously provide Canadian-made Step Right Premium Equine Feed to support our senior and special needs donkeys and mules. Their team will be there with great information about their feed and to help us raise even more for our Buy-a-Bale Fund.

Come join the fun, make memories, and help fill our hay barn for the donkeys – we can’t wait to see you!
