With heavy hearts, we share the sad news that our beloved Storm has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
First and foremost we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who's followed and supported his journey. From the initial transport, the canned food, to the laundry soaps and everything in between, it made a difference. Because of you compassion, Storm received the medical care, comfort, food and love he deserved during his fight....and some awesome smelling sheets.

Caring for a sick dog requires a team, and we had an amazing partnership with his foster family who had many sleepless nights and became bandage-ninjas. He was loved and they will miss him dearly. For them, thank you is just not enough. We celebrated many victories together during his journey, and now a loss. We became friends along the way, and I would like to think this was Storm's secret mission. 🦋
Despite all our efforts, his paw was just not healing and the challenges it caused him were just too severe. We are all devastated, the veterinarian suspected it was in fact a cancer. We take comfort in knowing he knew love, you know the real kind, right to the end.
Thank you for giving him a chance and showing him that HE MATTERED. You are all his heroes.
Stormy, please take pieces of our broken hearts with you and mail them back once they are fixed.
Until then, we will miss you.

Well...if this isn't the true meaning of rescue, I don't know what is...

Everybody meet Céline !

Céline was a part of a noisy bin of many baby chicks, all waiting for their new homes at our local hardware store. But Céline couldn't quite keep up with the others, so she was isolated for her safety. She tumbled over and couldn't stand straight and rolled over herself when she tried to stand. Céline kept trying anyways while I watched her closely tumble over and over...and over. and well, you know what I did next... being a Mastiff rescue and all. LOL

Her peeps were loud....and even louder when we saw Dr.Ibrahim at our local vet , who welcomed me and Céline and took the time to examine her closely. Céline's issue is at the articulation, she cannot stretch her leg to stand on her foot. Dr. Ibrahim suspects it's a very bad sprain she got in transport, as the upper leg is bruised and purple. There is little medically to do for a sprain, but to put her in a small space. She leans on her articulation and not on her foot so she is always off balance, and falls over. it's heartbreaking to witness. but our girl is strong, she doesn't give up.

All the way to the rescue, she kept peeping loudly and non stop for 20km, so we named her after Céline Dion. 😄

Céline is home. We don't know what the future holds, we do not even know her breed. Maybe her leg will heal, maybe it won't. But what I know today is every time I try to take a break from rescue, someone reminds me that even little ones matter enough. Enough to be seen, to be heard ( you sing Céline !!! ) and to be given a chance.

Now it's up to her.

Thank you to Wakefield Home Hardware for trusting Céline to us. It was touching to see the whole team gathering around her pen as I placed Céline in her tiny box, and telling me she was loved. ❤️ i will never forget that.

Thank you to the Wakefield Vet clinic for after all these years, still offering care for every animal I walk in with unannounced. Over and over. and they still let me in. Thank you Dr.Ibrahim and the team for your time...sometimes it's like everything falls into place and where a whole new life begins.

Just a quick update on our Stormy...he's back home with his family. The underneath of the paw is still acting up and we have some bad days....but he's in good spirits, eating well and still loving his treats you guys spoiled him with on Valentines day.
He is taking antibiotics daily to control everything. For now, we will stick to the doctor's plan.
