Dodgeball is Everybody.

Dodge Dive Donate Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador’s Inclusive Charity Dodgeball League is focused on inclusion both on and off the court. We fully support this 2020/2021 merchandise campaign.

Similar to Dodgeball Canada, and many dodgeball organizations across the world, our non profit organization has suffered during the pandemic. Easter Seals NL closed it’s doors in March, with a plan in place to re-launch programs and services in the Fall. Our participants are amongst the most vulnerable in our population, and their health and well being is our priority. Similar to that, our dodgers health and well being is our main concern when it comes to re-launching our league.

BUT, we’re still here! We still plan to finish the Winter 2020 season at no additional cost to our league members.
Thanks to each and every one of you who have been eager to hit the court once again on Sunday Nights, and have found ways to support and give back to Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador during this unprecedented time.

We’ll be back, focused on building our dodgeball community around this new normal. Stay tuned and keep a close eye to our Facebook Group for more information.

Please note that Dodgeball Newfoundland and Labrador Inc. is not affiliated with Dodge Dive Donate ESNL Inclusive Charity League at this time.

Please direct any inquires you may have about Dodge Dive Donate to [email protected]

Dodgeball is Everybody.

Dodgeball Canada recognizes that our members, athletes, provincial organizations, leagues, volunteers, and the broader community have been an integral part in helping build our success over the years. To show our gratitude, we want to support those who have helped us build the sport of dodgeball by donating a fund to a Canadian league or program that has suffered financially due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These leagues and/or programs must demonstrate an environment that reinforces inclusivity, through supporting marginalized community members. We invite you to share your story or nominate someone that you believe has made a difference in the sport of dodgeball and fits the criteria listed above by filling out an application at the Dodgeball Canada Community Fund Google Form: https://forms.gle/osvr77TB9N75C5St9

These funds will be raised through our first merchandise campaign “Dodgeball is Everybody” with Savage Apparel Co., Dodgeball Canada’s official apparel partner for the 2020/2021 season. The gear will consist of a wide variation of merchandise from sleeved, long-sleeved, and sleeveless jerseys to headbands, neckties, and sun hoodies, which can all be purchased at our virtual partnership store on the Savage website (CAD$ available).
https://savageultimate.com/collections/dodgeball-canada. The “Dodgeball Canada Community Fund” campaign will see $500 donated from the sales of the “Dodgeball is Everybody” merchandise.

During National Volunteer Week, we'd like to acknowledge the awesome work by Throwbocops dodger Crystal Mews.

Crystal often shows up early, stays late, and offers up her free time weekly in order to take pictures of our league nights.

Crystals commitment to the league both as a player, photographer, and as an overall great person with a such a positive attitude is greatly appreciated.

This weekend we had planned to welcome teams from all over the country to Edmonton in order to showcase their talent at the largest Nationals on record.

Nationals may have been delayed, but it helps ease the disappointment when we stop to consider how much our community has accomplished in only 4 short years. In 2016 we had less than 10 teams and representation from only a handful of provinces. This year we were set to see over 40. Our community has continued to grow and thrive and the level of competition has increased year over year even as the game has evolved.

We're thankful for all of our incredible members who have persistently recruited friends to join their rec teams, teachers who have fought to see dodgeball remain in the curriculum, league organizers and PSOs who have worked tirelessly to ensure dodgeball is available all over the country, and all of our refs, players, and volunteers who make sure there's a game to play.

Now we have new heroes to praise, the essential service providers who are working around the clock to get us through this crisis. We encourage those who are able to visit https://www.canadahelps.org/en/donate-to-coronavirus-outbreak-response/ and consider donating to a cause they care about.

This weekend, we will be digging through our nostalgia archives to get some great games from Nationals past on Twitch. In the meantime https://www.twitch.tv/collections/pcWWrkf4rRXgSw is stacked with some great footage from Charlottetown 2019 so you can get your dodgeball fix.

Thank you for continuing to support dodgeball and support each other.

Since there’s no dodgeball this week, (I’m not crying, you’re crying!) let’s take a trip down memory lane to the time when our boys participated in the 2019 Dodgeball Canada national tournament

A statement from Dodgeball Canada regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus

13/03/2020

Due to ongoing concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Easter Seals NL has decided to err on the side of caution and will be closed to the public until further notice.

This means our 2020 Winter/Spring season will be suspended until then, effective immediately.

We fully support their decision and respect their efforts to protect the general public.

Dodgeball Canada has issued a statement regarding the 2020 Nationals

Statement | 2020 Nationals Postponed

Today, DC President Duane Wysynski, the Board of Directors and Dodgeball Edmonton postponed Nationals 2020 scheduled to take place April 10 – 12 in Edmonton, AB. This decision is based on the province of Alberta prohibiting public gatherings of 250 or more people, including sports events and concerts, in an effort to slow down COVID-19.

Both Dodgeball Canada and Dodgeball Edmonton are committed to seeking a new date later in the year and will have an update for the public by March 31st.

“Our number one priority is the health and safety of all our community members across the country. The impact of COVID-19 is being felt across the world and the precautions taken by local government, professional sporting organizations and businesses are extreme measures to slow down the spread of the virus. Although we wish we could proceed with our event, we respect the precautions put in place by the provincial government. On behalf of Dodgeball Canada, I want to thank our organizers, athletes, coaches and staff for their patience. We will immediately turn our attention to planning a new date for Nationals and we will share that information once it’s been decided.” – Duane Wysynski, President of Dodgeball Canada

In the meantime, all athletes, coaches and staff have been advised to hold on cancelling their itineraries (including travel and accommodations) until the new date has been confirmed in an effort to avoid cancellation costs.

With Nationals postponed, Dodgeball Canada will also be reviewing National Program selections process.

“I echo Duane’s comments about the importance of the safety of our players, coaches and staff across Canada. I also share in everyone’s disappointment regarding the postponement of our beloved Nationals and look forward to it continuing later on this year. Contingency plans and recommendations surrounding 2020 National Program selections will be formally shared with the Board of Directors this weekend. I suspect a decision will be made by early next week and more information will be communicated via our website and Facebook shortly after." – Victor Gravili, Head Coach of Team Canada

Dodgeball Canada strongly recommends to all their provincial and league partners to practice social distancing to help flatten the curve and help contain the further spread of the virus.

Lastly, we understand our players and community members are faced with a lot of questions and uncertainty at this time, please rest assured we will make all information known as it becomes available.
