"My puppy won't stop biting!"
If you've ever looked down at your arms, ankles, or favourite sweater and wondered if you've accidentally adopted a tiny shark, you're not alone.
Puppy nipping is one of the most common concerns I hear from new puppy owners. While it can be frustrating, it's important to remember that most puppies aren't biting because they're trying to be naughty—they're often communicating a need.
In this post, we're looking at 3 common reasons puppies nip:
- They're overtired
- They're exploring the world with their mouths
- They're overstimulated
When we understand why our puppies are biting, we can focus on helping them succeed instead of simply trying to stop the behaviour.
Remember: puppyhood is a phase, and with good management, appropriate outlets, plenty of sleep, and consistent guidance, those sharp puppy teeth won't last forever!
How old is your puppy, and what's the strangest thing they've tried to chew?!?
