We have some exciting news!
Kinfolk Dogs is coming back to HRM! 🎉

Over the next few months, we’ll be transitioning to spending the majority of our time working with clients in Halifax, Dartmouth, and surrounding areas through our in-home training programs.

We’ll also continue offering Board & Trains for dogs from all over Nova Scotia (and beyond 😉).

Don’t worry, Truro friends... we aren’t disappearing! ❤️ We’ll still be back for our clients, Saturday group classes, and ongoing appointments.

This next chapter means being closer to our family, reaching more dogs and families who need help, and continuing to do what we love.

To everyone who has supported Kinfolk Dogs over the years... thank you. Seriously. We wouldn’t be here without you.

So excited to have another tiny terror in the Kinfolk family 🤭💕

Today was a BIG day for Keji Cola! 🐾

He had his very first visit with our favourite local trainers at Kinfolk for his assessment.
Now, before anyone pictures him doing obedience drills... that's not what today was about. Assessment day is simply a chance for the trainers to observe your dog, may have been a bite sleeve involved.
And now Keji is absolutely convinced he's been recruited for a career in police work. 🚔🐕‍🦺
Unfortunately for him, Ashley, Taylor and I have slightly different career goals in mind. Ashley has already made it her personal mission to one day snuggle the tiny beast instead of negotiating with him from a safe distance. 😂
All joking aside, I think it's incredibly important to remember that owning a dog isn't just about celebrating the cute, funny moments (of which there are a lot of!). It's also about recognizing behaviours early and working on them before they become bigger issues. Even though I spend every day around dogs, I still believe in calling in professionals when I need another set of experienced eyes.
Good trainers don't just train dogs—they teach us humans how to better communicate with them.
If you're looking for knowledgeable, down-to-earth trainers who really take the time to understand each dog as an individual, I can't recommend the team enough.

Now if you'll excuse me... I have to go explain to Keji that one encounter with a bite sleeve does not automatically qualify him for the K9 unit. 🚓😂 Look at him. One bite and he was exhausted for the drive home 🤣

Great idea! 👏 💕 🐾

Our outdoor exam area is finally done and ready for you! This area is especially great for nervous dogs and dogs that are not used to coming inside a building. We also screen coughing dogs outside to make sure we don’t bring contagious disease into the hospital! Not gonna lie, it’s also nice for our staff to get outside!

Thank you everyone for all of your advice and love the past couple weeks. It means more than what we can put into words. We are enjoying the time we have with Roman, so a few things have taken a backseat. We are beyond blessed to have this opportunity to soak in our time as a family 🙏 ☀️

Everyone be sure to wish our fearless CEO a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! This operation would be a sinking ship without her and words can’t describe how lucky we are!! Not to mention her weekly jokes at group class are top notch…ish…….😅

Without Ashley, this cool little thing we have going on, would not exist!!

Hey Halifax friends! 👋

We’ll be spending some time in HRM over the next couple of months and thought it would be a great opportunity to open a limited number of spots for in-home training beginning this August.

Whether you’re working through reactivity, leash pulling, jumping, recall, puppy training, aggression, or just want a dog that’s easier to live with, we’ll come to you and work on things where they’re actually happening.

We’ll only be taking a ✨ small ✨ number of weekend clients, and once those spots are full, they’re full.

Sometimes people come to us after trying everything else…

The books. The videos. Different approaches. Medications…

Our goal is not perfect obedience (unless that’s yours, then let’s do it!) It’s helping people enjoy life with their dogs again.

If it’s not fun, we’re not interested ✨

The dogs are learning.
The humans are learning.
And we are probably laughing 😅

Life’s too short for boring dog training! We do nerd out on dog training… but we also play, we take it to the real world, we use our dogs, we build your confidence and build a community along the way 🥰
