The Nova Scotia SPCA accepts animals into its care regardless of their age or health. We also follow no-kill principles which means we do not euthanize animals for space. Unexpected life situations happen and the SPCA strives to be approachable, non-judgemental and understanding. On average, healthy and friendly animals are adopted into loving families in less than two weeks! You simply have to ca

ll and arrange an appointment so the shelter can learn about what is the most suitable type of home for your pet. The appointment also allows the shelter to prepare a cozy space for your pet to make the transition as smooth as possible. A cat was brought into a our care today, August 14th, by a member of the community. They were found at Exit 13 on the 102 in Truro and brought to the SPCA in critical distress. They are a black and white, intact male cat. They appear to be an adult with a slender build.

It's Furry Friday on Cat Country 99.5!

Meet Ruby. โค๏ธ

This beautiful two-year-old girl is waiting for her new, loving home at the Nova Scotia SPCA in Colchester.

Ruby is a stunning mix of black and orange, with beautiful markings that make her one-of-a-kind. But her personality is what really makes her shine.

Shelter staff say Ruby is super affectionate, loves attention and enjoys snuggling up in her cozy bed. Sheโ€™s happiest when sheโ€™s the centre of attention โ€“ and honestly, we think she deserves it. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Ruby is FeLV-exposed, which means she would do best in a home where she is the only cat. But please donโ€™t let that stop you from getting to know her. Cats with FeLV can still have happy, fulfilling lives, and Ruby is ready for a loving home where she can simply be herself.
