Meet Puck! Puck has some very special front paws 🐾

If you notice, it looks like she’s wearing mittens! Puck is a polydactyl kitty, which means she was born with an extra digit on both front paws. It is a genetically inherited trait that does not cause any harm- in fact, polydactyl cats have an easier time balancing, climbing and hunting!

Because of these associated traits, polydactyl cats were known for bringing good luck to sailors during their travels- which is also how they ended up in Canada! 🍁 🌊 🚢

A dental appointment will begin with a complete dental examination, and if needed, your vet will schedule a dental cleaning to eliminate tartar and periodontal disease-causing plaque. 🦷

Most dogs and cats should get their first dental cleaning between the ages of 2 and 3 years old, since symptoms of periodontal disease are typically seen by this age.⚠️

Kittens who are handled frequently and socialised may grow into more vocal adults, and certain breeds, such as Siamese and Abyssinians, are naturally chatty. Cats can also grow more talkative as they become older. 😺

Age-related dementia and failing vision are two plausible explanations. A cat that is anxious or bewildered may meow for comfort. 🔊

When you can comprehend your cat's extensive language of chirps and meows, you'll learn a lot. They will inform you when they are hungry, when they are amorous, threatened or in discomfort! 😿😾😽

FVRCP is a combination vaccine that protects against Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Panleukopenia. These are all viruses that can affect the upper respiratory system of cats.

Today, we will focus on Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (the FVR in FVRCP)!

FVR is a species specific virus that causes upper respiratory disease in cats. Infection occurs through direct or indirect contact with an infected cat.

Vaccinating against FVR can minimize the risk of infection, reduce the symptoms of the infection drastically, and must be boostered regularly in order to help protect your cat.

Hunting is a vital natural instinct and a great way for cats to expend energy. A great way to engage them is to use puzzle feeders or use toys that resemble prey around the house. 🐁

To keep your indoor cat happy and not scratching your furniture, it is essential that you provide them with cat scratchers.🛋️
