Annex Cat Rescue

Annex Cat Rescue Annex Cat Rescue is a 100% volunteer charity dedicated to addressing the plight of homeless cats. Please note: We do not have an office or a shelter.

Annex Cat Rescue is a Toronto-based, 100% volunteer registered charity founded in 1997. Our mission is to address the problem of homeless & street cats in Toronto by spaying/neutering, bringing adoptable cats into our foster/adoption program, managing colonies of feral cats (those who are not adoptable), and educating the public about responsible pet ownership and living with community cats. Cats live with foster families or in managed colonies.

Asha and Dusty came into foster care as shy little souls, but together they’ve bloomed into the most wonderful pair.

🐾 Asha is the sweet, cuddly one — she loves belly rubs, head scratches, and curling up in your arms like she was made to be there. Once she knows you’re safe (or bringing snacks), she’s all purrs and love.

🐾 Dusty is the bold explorer — curious, silly, and always ready for an adventure. She’s learned that humans aren’t so scary after all, and now greets you at the door with her big voice and even bigger personality.

Meet Fred & Barney! These bonded brothers do everything side-by-side, from napping in their cat tower to grooming each other and play-fighting before curling up for a cozy snooze.

Fred is the gentler, more reserved one. You’ll recognize him by the little white patch on his chest, his higher-pitched meow and his slightly chunky build. He may take a bit longer to settle in but once he feels safe, he’s all love. Fred adores belly rubs, follows his humans around and has a soft spot for laser pointer games. He’s also grown into a bedtime buddy, often sleeping at the foot of the bed or loafing on his favourite chair.

Barney is the outgoing explorer. Curious and playful, he’ll be the first to investigate new spaces. He loves chasing toys, laser lights and especially watching “cat TV” with Fred. He’s also a funny little character who likes to paw at the TV, pounce on toes under blankets and “help” at dinnertime by meowing and standing on his hind legs while food is being served.

Fred and Barney share an incredible bond and need to be adopted together. They’ll do best as the only cats in the household where they can soak up all the love, attention and laser-pointer time their hearts desire.

If you’re looking for double the love, double the fun and double the purrs, Fred and Barney are your guys! For more info: annexcatrescue.ca/adopt/adoptable-cats

Bear is a majestic six-month-old kitten with long legs, a sweet soul and an even bigger heart. Bear is a big cuddlebug who adores his humans, happily snuggling up after playtime. He also has a soft spot for toys, treats and good food.

Because he’s so social and playful, Bear needs to be adopted with his littermate Houdini or into a home with another young active cat to keep him company. In return, he’ll offer endless affection, gentle companionship and a lifetime of love.

Show Midnight your Black cat appreciation 🐾

Midnight is a big, beautiful, sleek cat. He is very sweet, very strong and athletic, so this boy requires exercise. He's also very food motivated and loves his food and treats. Midnight become more affectionate when he become more comfortable in a newer environment. Reacts by rubbing against your legs, especially when you have food. He will tolerate some cuddling, but that will grow in time with a loving and affectionate new caregiver.

He is an adventurous cat who likes to walk on a leash, but only in fenced in and secure areas. Will thrive more as an only cat. He needs a good, loving long term home, where he can finally settle in and feel comfortable and secure.

Please share your loving story for black cats as well

What’s your cat’s favourite thing about autumn? From curling up in a warm blanket to watching the leaves dance outside the window, our feline friends know how to make the most of the season. Cooler days mean more snuggles, longer naps and endless hours of window-watching entertainment.

If your home feels like it’s missing a little autumn coziness, maybe it’s time to add a cat (or two!) to the mix. For info: annexcatrescue.ca/adopt/adoptable-cats

Tetris came to Annex Cat Rescue as a tough protective mom but it didn’t take long for her real personality to shine through ... she’s a total sweetheart! She loves being pet, picked up and held. She’ll rest her head on your shoulder and purr her heart out. After living on the streets, she can be a bit jumpy with sudden movements but as soon as she realizes you’re just there to give her love, she’s all in.

Tetris gets along fine with other cats but isn’t looking for a playmate. She’d do great as an only cat or with another easygoing feline. She’s also met her foster’s dog and mostly just ignores him.

All hail the Grand Duchess Anastasia!

This fluffy girl rules her indoor kingdom with grace (and plenty of naps). She enjoys watching Bird TV from her throne (the couch), late-night adventures and gazing upon her kingdom from her cat tower and seeks a patient, experienced adopter who respects her royal boundaries.
