Annex Cat Rescue is a Toronto-based, 100% volunteer registered charity founded in 1997. Our mission is to address the problem of homeless & street cats in Toronto by spaying/neutering, bringing adoptable cats into our foster/adoption program, managing colonies of feral cats (those who are not adoptable), and educating the public about responsible pet ownership and living with community cats. Cats live with foster families or in managed colonies.

Does your cat have a “weird” habit? Cats are wonderfully mysterious little creatures and some of the things they do can leave us wondering.

Why do they:
🧡 Sprint through the house at 3am?

Meet Anastasia - Her Royal Highness and queen of the couch!

This fluffy former colony cat loves Bird TV, cozy sweaters, cat towers, and late-night zoomies. She's an independent girl who prefers admiration from a respectful distance, so she'll need a patient adopter who understands her boundaries and gives her time to trust.

Anastasia loves other cats, especially younger ones, but would also be happy ruling her kingdom solo.

Mochi is affectionate, playful, and happiest with company. He'd do best with someone who's home often or with a friendly feline companion.

Why adopt from Annex Cat Rescue? You’re not just giving a cat a home. You’re supporting a rescue that runs on big hearts.

We’re 100% volunteer-run, with no office and no shelter. Everything we do happens because dedicated volunteers give their time, energy and love to help cats in need.

We receive no government funding. We rely on donations and the generosity of our supporters to keep doing what we do.

And every cat in our care gets more than the basics. They receive good food, veterinary care, plenty of TLC and lots of one-on-one attention. Because our volunteers spend time getting to know each cat, we learn their personalities, quirks, likes and dislikes ... all the things that help us make the best possible match.

So when you adopt from ACR, you’re getting more than a cat. You’re getting a cat who has been loved, cared for and truly known. And you’re giving them the furever home they’ve been waiting for.

A curious, playful and gentle young boy, he can be shy when meeting new people. But once he gets comfortable, he is the sweetest cat who LOVES being pet! Javier would do best in a household that will introduce him slowly to his new surroundings and people, allowing him time to blossom.

Meet Toto, a joyful, playful young cat who loves people, cuddles, zoomies, and a good wrestling match with a feline friend.

He’d do best in a home with another playful, social cat. Toto also has a heart murmur that will need annual monitoring, but currently requires no treatment.

Meet Barney & Fred! These bonded brothers do everything side-by-side, from napping in their cat tower to grooming each other and play-fighting before curling up for a cozy snooze.

Barney is the outgoing explorer. Curious and playful, he’ll be the first to investigate new spaces. He loves chasing toys, laser lights and especially watching “cat TV” with Fred. He’s also a funny little character who likes to paw at the TV, pounce on toes under blankets and “help” at dinnertime by meowing and standing on his hind legs while food is being served.

Fred is the gentler, more reserved one. You’ll recognize him by the little white patch on his chest, his higher-pitched meow and his slightly chunky build. He may take a bit longer to settle in but once he feels safe, he’s all love. Fred adores belly rubs, follows his humans around and has a soft spot for laser pointer games. He’s also grown into a bedtime buddy, often sleeping at the foot of the bed or loafing on his favourite chair.

Fred and Barney share an incredible bond and need to be adopted together. They’ll do best as the only cats in the household where they can soak up all the love, attention and laser-pointer time their hearts desire. For more info, check the link in our bio.

Meet Floyd Pepper! He likes to take his time getting to know new people and new surroundings. He can be a little shy at first but behind those cautious eyes is a sweet, sensitive boy who wants to be part of the family ... he just prefers to do things at his own pace.

One of Floyd's favourite habits is sneaking onto his foster mom's bed at night. He'll curl up nearby, close enough to feel connected, but not quite ready for full-on cuddles. While he's still deciding how he feels about pets, treats are definitely the way to his heart! With patience, consistency and a steady supply of snacks, Floyd continues to build confidence and trust every day.

Floyd enjoys the company of other cats and would thrive in a home with a feline friend. He is looking for an adopter who understands that some cats need a little extra time to shine. If you're willing to let him set the pace, you'll be rewarded with the joy of watching this gentle boy blossom into the companion he was always meant to be. Check the link in our bio for more info.
