Annex Cat Rescue is a Toronto-based, 100% volunteer registered charity founded in 1997. Our mission is to address the problem of homeless & street cats in Toronto by spaying/neutering, bringing adoptable cats into our foster/adoption program, managing colonies of feral cats (those who are not adoptable), and educating the public about responsible pet ownership and living with community cats. Cats live with foster families or in managed colonies.

September is Animal Pain Awareness Month. Sometimes it’s hard to tell when something’s wrong. Instead you might notice small changes like:

🧡 Not jumping up to their favorite spot
🧡 Hiding more than usual
🧡 Eating less (or not at all)
🧡 Skipping the litter box
🧡 Grooming way too much or not enough

This month, let’s pay closer attention to our feline friends. If you notice your cat acting differently, it might not be “just getting older” ... it could be pain. A vet check can make all the difference in keeping them comfortable and happy.

Meet Dill and Gherkin, two playful brothers who are as sweet as they are inseparable! These boys are gentle, easygoing and affectionate and are the friendliest little companions. Meet Lincoln – a big, gentle giant with an even bigger heart!

This affectionate boy loves pets, forehead kisses, and even being carried around. If you’re not paying attention, he’ll politely tap you with his paw to remind you he’s there. Playful and sweet, Lincoln enjoys toys, treats, and keeping close to his humans.

Meet Bundt! He is playful and calm, enjoying toys and interacting with his siblings. His easygoing nature and abundant love make him a comforting and joyful companion who thrives on human connection. Come see Percy! Percy is a shy cat at first but he warms up quickly and is ready to become your devoted companion. He is very talkative and loves to chat, letting you know exactly how he feels and what's going on in his little world. Once he is comfortable and adjusted, Percy turns into a nonstop purr machine, often mixing in chirps, trills, and meows.

He enjoys all kinds of play such as balls, wand toys, or chasing his siblings. Curious, affectionate, and playful, Percy brings joy and personality to every moment. Percy must be adopted with one of his siblings; Pi, Bundt or Pixel.

Though in-person races in the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon have sold out, you can still join Team ACR in the virtual races and walk or run anytime in October. Register through this link (raceroster.com/95235?aff=CZAWQ) and the organizers will donate an extra $5 per person to ACR.

Already registered? Make your run mean more by joining Team ACR and dedicating your effort to homeless cats living on Toronto’s streets. To join our team, (1) log into Race Roster, (2) click on your race registration, (3) scroll down to the team section and (4) choose to join an existing team (search Annex Cat Rescue) .

ACR will reimburse the registration fees for all team members who meet our fundraising targets.

The TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon is our biggest fundraiser of the year. And thanks to our wonderful returning matching donor, donations have twice the impact!
