World Spay Day is an annual campaign of The Humane Society International to raise awareness that spay/neuter saves animals' lives. Spaying and neutering is a safe, responsible surgical procedure that helps avoid unwanted animals and it prevents health problems including ovarian and testicular cancer. Be sure to schedule an appointment to have your pet spayed or neutered if you haven't already.

This February we would like to remind you that it is ‘Pet Dental Health Month.’ The American Veterinary Medical Association (AMVA) estimates that more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have oral disease by the age of 3. This reminds us that dental care for pets is NOT just intended for seniors. This is why it is so important that your animal receives a dental exam at LEAST once a year. This February we want to help your pet by offering FREE DENTAL EXAMS in February as well as 10% off dental cleanings AND a FREE BAG OF DENTAL FOOD for your pet!!

As we finish out February, the Responsible Pet Owner’s Month, we encourage you to think of your pets. It is because our pets cannot tell us when they have gotten into our candy stash, or when they have swallowed something sharp that we need to keep an extra eye on them when at home. Of course, there is only so much that you can do from home and for everything else, you have us! Pick up the phone and schedule your pet’s next exam and don’t hesitate to ask your Veterinarian how you can do more for your pet!

Do you know that today is a holiday? Love Your Pet Day only comes once a year, and making your dog’s tail wag or getting a purr out of your cat is the goal! Start the day off by rewarding their good behavior and letting them know how much you love them. You can wrap up the day by doing something unique-maybe today your pet gets to lay on the couch or have an extra bite of food? Up to you! Leave a comment letting us know what you did to spoil your animal today!

February is Prevent a Litter Month, which is a national effort to urge everyone to spay or neuter their pets to prevent the spring pet population boom. Spaying can prevent the onset of mammary tumors in females, while neutering can prevent behavioral problems in males. Click the link for more information.
