SAMHAIN IN CORKTOWN

Samhain (pronounced sow-un) is a Celtic spiritual tradition, which marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. As Corktown’s early residents were largely Irish immigrants, their past traditions, such as wearing costumes or ugly masks, and carving faces into root vegetables, were likely practiced here. These traditions have remained a key part of our Halloween celebrations today, and we would like to honour that by celebrating Samhain in Corktown.
