As temperatures drop and snow blankets the ground, it’s important to remember that winter weather impacts our furry friends too. While we bundle up in coats and scarves, our pets rely on us to keep them safe and comfortable during the colder months.
Here’s our top tips for keeping your pets healthy and happy this winter⬇️
❄️ Supervise Outdoors: Always keep a close eye on your pets when they're outside in winter conditions. Watch out for slippery ice, snow piles, and frozen water sources.
🧣 Protect Against the Cold: For dogs with short coats or cats sensitive to the cold, consider extra layers like cozy sweaters, jackets, or blankets to keep them warm. Older or smaller pets may need more protection when heading outside.
🧊 Avoid Frozen Water: Never let your pets near frozen lakes, ponds, or streams. Thin ice can break unexpectedly, and it’s better to be safe with dry, stable areas for play.
🐾 Paw Protection: Salt, ice, and snow can irritate your pets' paws. For dogs, consider booties, and for cats, wipe off their paws when they come inside to remove any harmful substances.
🚗 Never Leave Them in the Car: Just like in the summer, don’t leave your pets in the car during the winter. Cars can trap cold air, putting them at risk for hypothermia.
