🐾❤️ HAPPY TAILS, CHESTER! ❤️🐾

Sometimes finding the perfect forever home takes a little extra time, patience and a whole lot of love. Chester’s story is a wonderful reminder of why finding the *right match* matters so much!

Chester, an adorable purebred Dachshund, came into our care as an unclaimed stray from Grey County. Estimated to be between 5 and 7 years old, this little guy was absolutely bursting with personality!

His first foster family quickly fell in love with him, but their resident cat wasn't quite as enthusiastic about Chester's playful ways. We soon realized that this spirited little fellow needed a family who understood Dachshunds, could keep up with his energy and, ideally, had a canine playmate to share his adventures.

Enter Lugene! ❤️

With three Dachshunds in her past, a fenced yard and a friendly Pug/Schnauzer mix named Colin who LOVES other dogs, Lugene sounded like a wonderful match.

After several conversations and interviews over several weeks, the stars aligned! A planned Blue Jays game with Lugene's daughter in Toronto created the perfect opportunity for a meet and greet.

And sometimes, you just know. 🥹

It was immediately apparent that Chester had found his people!

Since then, Chester has been welcomed into the extended family, meeting daughters, other family members and even the family dog at a beautiful 100-acre property with plenty of room for adventures!

A heartfelt thank you to Chester's foster family for giving him love and care along the way, and to Lugene and her family for opening their hearts and home to this special little character.

We can't wait for the updates and to hear all about Chester and Colin's adventures together!

🐾 Happy Tails, Ozzie! Another wonderful foster fail! ❤️

Sometimes the perfect forever home is the one a dog has been living in all along!

Ozzie joined Hopeful Tails in late August after making the journey south from a Northern Quebec community. This sweet five-year-old boy quickly made friends wherever he went, from the Critter Cab drivers who helped him along his journey to the people and pups he met at local parks in midtown Toronto.

And then there were his foster parents, Angie and Steve, who were completely smitten!

Having previously adopted and fostered Golden Retrievers, Ozzie was their first husky mix, and he certainly made an impression. With his love of fetch, incredibly affectionate nature and friendly personality with other dogs, Ozzie quickly found his place in their hearts.

When the opportunity came for Ozzie to move on to a new home, Angie and Steve knew the answer.

Ozzie wasn't going anywhere. He was already home! 🥹❤️

We absolutely love these happy endings! A huge congratulations to Ozzie, Angie and Steve. We can't wait to follow along as Ozzie continues to enjoy his wonderful life with his forever family.

A heartfelt thank you to the Northern Dogs Project and the dedicated Critter Cab drivers who helped make Ozzie's journey possible. Every person who plays a part in rescue helps create happy endings like this one.

PUPPIES INCOMING! 🐾 COMING SOON: Meet Harper & Muffin! 🐾

Double the puppy love is headed our way! ❤️

We have two adorable new arrivals joining the Hopeful Tails family this Saturday, and we couldn't wait to introduce them!

Meet Harper (brown) and Muffin, two sweet pups from a remote northern community who are about to begin an exciting new chapter with our rescue.

At approximately 16 weeks old, these little ones were found alongside several other puppies. Their breed? Your guess is as good as ours! But one thing we know for sure is that they're pretty darn cute. 🥰

We're excited to welcome Harper and Muffin into our care, get to know their personalities and help them take their next steps towards finding loving forever homes.

Stay tuned! We'll be sharing more about these two as they settle into their foster homes.

Meet Radar, a lovely 10-year-old blind male Cockapoo looking for his forever family. 🐾

He's not asking for much. Just a quiet home, a loving human, his favourite squeaky toys, and gentle walks throughout the day.

🏡 A calm home without lots of commotion would be ideal.
🐕 Another dog is welcome, but not required.
🧸 Squeaky toys? YES, PLEASE!

🐾❤️ HAPPY TAILS, KHAOS! ❤️🐾

From a broken leg to a beautiful new beginning, Khaos has quite the story to tell!

Khaos arrived in our care in late May from a remote community in Northern Ontario with a broken leg. Her injury was already more than 12 weeks old, making a successful surgical outcome far from certain. But just two days after arriving, Khaos underwent surgery, and what a difference it made!

Fast forward several months, and her recovery has been nothing short of amazing. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to figure out which leg was ever broken! 🥹

But Khaos wasn't just healing physically. She was also busy stealing hearts. ❤️

It didn't take long for Khaos to form an incredible bond with her foster mom, Trish, and her son, Nate. And as the weeks went by, one thing became very clear... Khaos was already home!

Today, Khaos is living her very best life! She's surrounded by love, has made plenty of doggie friends in her community, and enjoys visits to the dog park and daycare. True to her northern roots, she'd much rather be outdoors enjoying an adventure than anywhere else!

Stories like Khaos's remind us that rescue is truly a team effort. A heartfelt thank you to Northern Reach Network, her wonderful Thunder Bay foster, the veterinary teams at Thornbury and Kahu Animal Hospitals, and trainer Susanne, who generously shared her knowledge and guidance throughout Khaos's journey.

And of course, a very special thank you to Trish and Nate for giving Khaos the love, patience and forever home she deserves. Your continued updates warm our hearts!

Happy Tails Mocha! We are so pleased to say that Mocha has been adopted.

Small dogs are always popular, so it wasn’t unusual to see lots of apps roll in once she was posted. This two year old Shihtzu mix attracted the attention of Mike and Alissa, who recently lost their companion Buddy, and they were ready for another.

Mocha is now surrounded by love, has two older human brothers who adore her is now the office assistant who has claimed a chair of her own when she accompanies Mike to his office. Post adoption reports claim she has captured their hearts and brings lots of laughter and joy to their home.

We look forward to many updates!

Looking for a little companion to share life's quieter moments? You might just fall in love with Radar! ❤️

Radar is a 10-year-old blind male Cockapoo with a simple wish: a loving forever home where he can feel safe, comfortable, and cherished.

His idea of a good day? A favourite squeaky toy, a few leisurely walks, a familiar routine, and a human who understands that a peaceful home is his happy place.

Radar would do best in a calm household without too much noise or commotion. He could live happily with another dog, but he doesn't need a canine sibling to make his life complete.

He just needs YOU — someone with a little patience, a lot of love, and time for those slow, sniff-filled walks throughout the day. 🐾

Senior dogs have so much love left to give, and Radar is ready to find his special person.
