It’s me Olive. We met a few days ago. Being a black, slightly shy dog I often get overlooked. And then there’s my sister Mabel. Mabel makes a point of getting noticed. Trust me on this one. I may be the straight A student, Mabel is the party girl.

Here’s the thing though. We’ve been through thick and thin together for 8 years and as annoying as she can be, life is better with her in it and a little less scary.

So how about a ready made family? We entertain each other, we entertain you. You only need one dog coat because Mabel refuses to wear one. One dog bed is fine because we love sleeping together. We are very gentle and love everyone. We like to kiss our foster brother, although he tries to get away from us.

We are smart and well behaved and up for any adventures but also happy to sleep all day. We don’t like being left alone yet but we’re working on it. So what do say? Will you ring in the new year with us? I may not stay awake until then, but my sister Mabel will be up for the party.

💛 Update on Olive… she’s not alone. 💛

We’ve learned something beautiful—Olive (black dog) and her sister Mabel (blonde dog) are a bonded pair. After all they’ve been through, it turns out they’ve been each other’s constant… and we couldn’t separate them. So when it came time to bring Olive to Canada, we made a last-minute decision that felt just right—Mabel came too. ✈️🐾

And we’re so glad we did.

These two 8-year-old sisters have settled beautifully into their rural foster home, where they’ve made fast friends with two furry foster siblings. In just days, they’ve already started to bloom.

🐾 Olive is calm, gentle, and quiet. A little shy with all the recent changes—but she radiates sweetness and soft trust.
🐾 Mabel is her balance—outgoing, cheerful, and eager to say hello to every dog and person she sees.

Together, they are pure harmony. They’ve clearly relied on one another through the hard moments, and now they’re rediscovering safety and joy—side by side.

They’re the perfect size (30 lbs), great with other dogs and cats, good in the car, and happiest curled up close to the people they love (and each other).

As we continue to get to know them, one thing is certain: some bonds are meant to stay together.

💛 Please help us welcome Bongo 💛

Bongo’s journey to us wasn’t an easy one. After a painful accident left him with a broken leg, his family had to make the difficult decision to surrender him.

But Bongo’s story is far from over—it’s just beginning. 🐾

Thanks to your continued support, Bongo received the surgery he needed and is now healing in a loving foster home with a smile on his face (and a belly ready for rubs!). He still has a road ahead, but he’s taking each step with tail wags and a heart full of trust. 💕

If Hopeful Tails had a “Most Flexible Foster” award, Kayla would win it every single year — probably while juggling a puppy, a bag of kibble, and a car full of dog beds. 😄

Kayla has opened her home to everyone — adult dogs, puppies, and even moms with their tiny newborn bundles. No matter what the situation is, she adapts like a pro. Need an urgent foster? Kayla’s there. Need a dog chauffeured from Montreal or from hours Northward? She’s in the car. Need dog food delivered ASAP? She’s already on the way. She might actually be powered by coffee and compassion. ☕💛

Her knowledge, energy, patience, and “let’s make it happen” attitude make her an absolute superstar on our rescue team. Whether she’s calming a nervous mama dog or entertaining a room full of roly-poly puppies, Kayla brings love and good vibes everywhere she goes.

We are SO lucky to have Kayla as part of our Hopeful Tails family — thank you for always stepping up, rolling with the chaos, and making a huge difference in the lives of so many dogs. 💙🐶

🎉 Happy Tails, Cain!

Our freckle-faced boy Cain has found his perfect match—and we couldn’t be happier!

As the last pup from our hound litter (his littermates joined us back in the spring), Cain had captured so many hearts with his signature head tilt, big personality, and charming freckles. Choosing the right family was no easy task... but when we saw him with Jake, we knew.

Jake was adopted just six months ago, and when the two met—it was like looking at big and little brothers. Same energy, same zest for life, same goofy charm. It was meant to be.

Now Cain joins Vicki, Jason, and big brother Jake in a loving home full of playtime, open space, and extended family pups to romp with. A rural paradise for this spirited boy to grow up in. 🐶

💚 Olive: The A+ Houseguest with a Heart of Gold 💚

It’s been a week since Olive arrived, and this sweet middle-aged girl has already shown us just how special she is. At first, she’s a little shy—but give her a moment, and you’ll see her gentle soul shine through. ✨

Her foster mom describes her perfectly:

“If she were human, she’d be that perfect straight-A student!”

And honestly? We see it. Olive is a dream houseguest—house trained, crate trained, and friendly with everyone she meets, including the resident dogs and horses.

She’s an old soul with a gentle heart and a soft mouth. The kind of quiet companion who would thrive with first-time dog owners or empty nesters looking for some loyal company.

While she had no prior leash experience, she’s picking it up with patience—and yes, she’s still a bit of a zigzagger! But she’s learning.

✅ Vaccines up to date
🦷 Dental work is scheduled for early January—once that’s done, Olive will be ready to meet her forever family!

🚐Meet Rylee: From the North with Love 🐾

Just arrived this past weekend on a Critter Cab run, Rylee made the long journey from a remote Northern Quebec community… and wasted no time stealing hearts along the way. 💛

At just 3 years old, this beautiful girl is beginning a brand-new chapter—learning what it means to be loved, safe, and home. Her foster mom already describes her as sweet and affectionate. She’s settling into city life, taking it all in stride, and has been great with other dogs, non-reactive to cats, and very into human snuggles. 🐶

She’ll be visiting our vet later this week for her full check-up and bloodwork—and we’ll be sharing more as we learn about her.

A big thank you to the Northern Dogs Project for trusting us with Rylee’s care. She’s already left pawprints on our hearts, and we know her journey is just beginning.
